About ThedaCare!
Summary :
The Operating Room Assistant is a member of the surgical care team that supports and participates in ensuring the clinical team within the operating room (department) has adequate supplies and equipment to care for patients. Supports the RN prepare for and deliver patient care within perioperative services.:
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
1. Assists in preparing operating room, equipment, and supplies according to patient need as delegated by registered nurse to support timely delivery of patient care.
2. Assists surgical team in positioning surgical patient and holding limbs for preps to support surgical site preparation.
3. Retrievals, sets up, and returns equipment to support the delivery of patient care and maintain order and cleanliness of the departmental corridors and storage areas.
4. Participates in transportation of patients, surgical specimens, and blood products under direction of the registered nurse to assist in the progression of patient care.
5. Monitors, logs, and escalates out of range temperatures of various equipment throughout the department to meet regulatory requirements.
6. Creates stock lists and stock supplies per department standard.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School diploma or GED
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or Certified Medical Assistant (CMA)
- BLS (AHA) Certification
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Ability to move freely (standing, stooping, walking, bending, pushing, and pulling) and lift up to a maximum of fifty (50) pounds without assistance
- Job classification is exposed to blood borne pathogens (blood or bodily fluids) while performing job duties
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Possible exposure to communicable diseases, hazardous materials, and pharmacological agents
- Occasional contact with aggressive and or combative patients
- Occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risk of electrical shock
- Frequent exposure to sharp objects and instruments
- Occasional high noise level in work environment
