Description
The Education and Labor Cabinet’s mission is to educate, prepare and train Kentucky's current and future workforces. The Office of Vocational Rehabilitation empowers individuals with disabilities to maximize employment, achieve economic self-sufficiency and independence, and to contribute back to society. We also help businesses and employers recruit, retain and accommodate employees with disabilities.
We are seeking an Occupational Therapist at the Carl D. Perkins Vocational Training Center to perform professional occupational therapy work.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide indirect consumer services; daily logs, evaluation reports, wheelchair maintenance, and splinting/adaptive equipment fabrication.
  • Communicate with family members, staff, and other professionals. Talk to families, discussions with dorm counselors, instructors, contact physicians, pharmacists, attend staffing, serve on committees, supervision give or receive interns or staff, consults w/physicians concerning individual treatment, participates in consultations, staffing/medical staffing.
  • Provide direct consumer services; screenings, evaluations/testing, bioptic driving, individual OT, courtesy visits, reassessments, and groups. Coordinates occupational therapy services i.e. consumer scheduling, billing and referrals, as well as staff time, attendance training needs, and utilization.
  • Maintain continuing education equivalent to maintain/meet state/national requirements for certifications/licensing/liabilities insurance. Provide training to direct care staff involved in teaching daily living skills/activities. Plan/prepare curriculum/outlines for courses after conferring with proper authorities.
  • Maintain work area in a neat orderly manner. Comply/maintain proper infection control Procedures. Clean offices/therapy areas. File records, Determine needs and make recommendations for supplies/equipment.
  • Performs other duties as required.
  • Maintain records as per Center policy and procedures, state/federal guidelines. Write staff notes, cost center reports, review charts, review/send Center email, documentation for interns (orientation, midterm, final), letter of medical necessity to vendors.

Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION: Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree in occupational therapy; OR, a master's degree in occupational therapy; OR, certification in occupational therapy.

Probationary Period
