Occupational Therapist 1-2-3

Position is located with PINECREST SUPPORTS & SERVICES CENTER.
Location: Medical Occupational Therapy
Shift: 7am - 3:30pm Pass Days: Saturday and Sunday

Required -
current Louisiana Occupational Therapist temporary permit as issued by the Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners

This position may be filled by Probation, Promotion, Demotion, Lateral Transfer or Detail to Special Duty Preference may be given to permanent classified employees of Pinecrest Supports and Services Center.

As part of a Career Progression Group, vacancies may be filled from this recruitment as an
Occupational Therapist 1-2-3 depending on the level of experience of the selected applicant. The maximum annual salary for the Occupational Therapist 3
is $126,547.00 . Please refer to the “Job Specifications” tab located at the top of the LA Careers “Current Job Opportunities page” for specific information on salary ranges, minimum qualification requirements and job concepts for each level.


Updated Minimum Hire Rates

Occupational Therapist 1 $27.60 hourly

Occupational Therapist 2 $31.60 hourly

Occupational Therapist 3 $33.81 hourly

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Possession of a current Louisiana Occupational Therapist temporary permit as issued by the Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners.

SUBSTITUTIONS:
Possession of a current Occupational Therapist license initially issued prior to enactment of Louisiana Occupational Therapy Practice Act in 1979.

Job Concepts

To provide professional occupational therapy services.

Level of Work:
Experienced.

Supervision Received:
General from a higher level Occupational Therapist.

Supervision Exercised:
None.

Location of Work:
Health care facilities statewide.

Job Distinctions:
Differs from Occupational Therapy Assistant 2 by the responsibility for interpreting test results and formulating treatment plans.

Differs from Occupational Therapist 2 by the absence of greater program responsibilities and supervision of subordinates.

Examples of Work

Carries out recurring work on own initiative, developing treatment objectives and planning and adapting activities according to each persons needs.

Evaluates clients and patients to assess needs for occupational therapy in the areas of motor functioning, sensory integrative functioning, cognitive functioning, psychological functioning, and social functioning.

Instructs and trains clients, patients, and family members in therapeutic techniques and activities which lead to improved functioning.

Modifies or changes treatment methods according to changes in patients physical and functional status after periodic evaluations.

Assists in developing and implementing management policies and in-service training sessions for assigned special services.

Participates in multidisciplinary or interdisciplinary staffing of all clients and patients to update treatment plans.

Consults and collaborates with physicians and other professionals regarding patients needs.

Assist in the management of supply levels and conveys equipment needs.

Interprets recommendations for occupational therapy referrals and gathers data pertinent to each client and patient.

Constructs, designs, and adapts orthotic devices and adaptive equipment and assesses need for ordering other special aides to promote functioning at maximum level of independence.

Prepares and presents pertinent professional records and reports documenting rehabilitative progress.

Conducts home visits and collaborates with clients, patients, and family members in making recommendations for home accessibility.

Explains role of occupational therapy to other health care disciplines.
