Job Description
Job Summary:
Functions within the sterile field and provides reliable assistance to the members of the team including nurses, manager, and physician. Prepares the operating room for surgery and assists during surgical procedures. Sets up instruments for and assists during vaginal deliveries, suction curettage, and consults. Obtains necessary equipment and supplies and stocks rooms. Assists with the after care of equipment and supplies. Accountable to the Patient Care Manager.
Performance Expectations:
  • Maintains own clinical skills staying current in skills, equipment and certifications including, but not limited to: Infant security system, Baby Friendly Initiative, and Family Centered Care .
  • Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served; also demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development and possesses the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interprets the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age specific needs, and to provide the care needed.
  • Demonstrates thorough, concise and timely documentation, shift reports and verbal communication. Communicates pertinent patient information to all health care team members.
  • Communicates effectively with others in an appropriate and timely manner. Adheres to and promotes the established values of the organization, i.e. customer service, safety and compliance standards.

Education/Skills:
High school diploma or equivalent required. Graduation from a Surgical Technician accredited program required.
Work Experience:
Experience as an operating room technician preferred.
Certification/Licensure:
None required.
Mental Demands:
Ability to perform as a team member, cooperate with others, follow directions precisely, demonstrate initiative, set priorities, and function under stress.
