Job Description

Position is a Nurse Supervisor I located at the NC Correctional Institution for Women (NCCIW) in Raleigh, NC. This facility houses approximately 1,700 of minimum, medium and close custody female offenders. The Nurse Supervisor is responsible for ensuring professional nursing care and treatment is afforded to patients within medical policies, protocols and consistent with Board of Nursing requirements. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, direct supervision of all nursing staff to include staff schedules, assignments, orientation, performance improvement evaluations and clinical competency evaluations. The Nurse Supervisor supervises and conducts needs assessments, develops, implements and evaluates treatment plans and provides patient care and education to offenders. Position will ensure all policies and procedures are followed and submit short- and long-term goals to leadership for review and approval. Position will perform administrative duties such as planning, organizing and managing daily operations, quality assurance, Human Resources management functions and staff development. The Nurse Supervisor will be required to develop and maintain effective communication and work relationships with physicians, upper management healthcare personnel, patients, families, agencies and others. The Nurse Supervisor must have the ability to identify and address quality monitoring and performance improvement issues for the facility. May be required to work any schedule to ensure medical operational needs are met at the facility level.
This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with State Benefits.

The salary grade for this position is MH18. State employees are encouraged to apply for positions of interest even if the salary grade is the same as, or lower than, their current position. If selected for this position, a new salary will be recalculated taking into consideration the quantity of relevant education and experience, funding availability and internal equity. Based upon these factors, a pay increase MAY result.
About the NC Department of Adult Correction (DAC):
The Dept. of Adult Correction is responsible for the care, custody and supervision of all adults sentenced after conviction for violating North Carolina laws. This department includes State Prisons with custody, healthcare and facility operations staff as well as the division of Community Supervision. Other divisions include Administration, Compliance & Accreditation, Comprehensive Health Services, Internal Affairs & Intelligence Operations, Post-Release Supervision & Parole Commission and Rehabilitation & Reentry.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of North Carolina AND two (2) years of nursing experience.
