Shriners Children's, the premier pediatric burn, orthopaedic, spinal cord injury, cleft lip and palate, and pediatric subspecialties medical center. We currently have an opening for a temporary certified Nurse Practitioner to join our team.


The Certified Nurse Practitioner (CNP) provides care that requires knowledge and skills obtained from advanced formal education


and clinical experience. The CNP, in collaboration with the physicians and interdisciplinary team, may provide preventive, acute,


specialized and primary care services to patients consistent with the nurse's education and certification. Services provided by the


CNP may include, but are not limited to the following 1) assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and management of identified health


needs; 2) ordering and interpretation of diagnostic and / or laboratory tests; 3) formulating, documenting, and monitoring


treatment plans; 4) routine wound or post-operative dressing management; 5) ordering interdisciplinary consults; and 6) ordering


pharmacologic and non- pharmacologic therapies and / or interventions


  • Monitors the delivery of care and coordination of activities as the patient moves through the pre-admission
  • Coordinates and controls activities as it relates to the patient preparation for procedures.

follow-up with patients and families).

  • Obtains and documents appropriate health histories and physical exams on patients.

standardized procedures collaboratively developed with medical staff and in accordance with Nurse

Masters in Nursing required


Experience


5 Years Nursing Preferred


1 Year Nurse Practitioner, Pediatric And/or Orthopedic Preferred


License and Certification


Licensed in state of practice Required AND Pediatric Nurse Practitioner Preferred


Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Required within 6 months


Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Required within 6 months

The Patient Access Representative verifies the eligibility and availability of a patient's insurance status with insurance companies
to ensure proper coverage and payment for services. Working with other members of the team, this role will also coordinate the
patient scheduling, insurance pre-certification and authorizations. Duties also include completion of pre-registration processes
and providing patients with information regarding access to additional external financial resources when appropriate. This
position will provide assistance with patient registration when required.
Patient Access scheduling and registration
  • Processes appointment requests for all types of outpatient appointments for new and established patients.
Completes pre-registration to verify patient demographics are correct.
  • Obtains patient consents as required and documents in appropriate fields.
  • Responsible for correctly identifying authorization requirements and addressing appropriate fields in patient
accounts.
  • Accurately performs registration while adhering to registration policies.
Patient Access insurance verification
  • Completes timely and accurate verification of insurance prior to patient arrival for services, during
hospitalization and after discharge to meet patient needs.
  • Obtains, records and scans patient insurance information into electronic scheduler. Ensures insurance
information recorded matches the insurance card.
  • Accurately documents insurance related information in appropriate fields.
Patient Access financial counseling
  • Educates patients and families regarding co-pays/deductibles and first party pay requirements.
  • Assist with completing applications for external resources.
  • Builds collaborative relationships with leadership, medical staff, peers, and hospital staff.
  • Actively supports all department and hospital policies.
  • Provides patients with financial counseling in order to optimize access to appropriate external resources.
  • Actively supports patient safety initiatives. Responds and acts on safety recommendations
  • Identifies uninsured patients to perform financial counseling.
Education
High School diploma required
1 Year Experience In Scheduling And Registration Required
