The individual in this position will conduct business process analysis and needs assessments in conjunction with department directors and staff in an effort to align Information Technology solutions with business initiatives in the clinical environment.

Essential Job Functions

  • Observes and assesses user skills, coaches’ individuals and offers individual or group meeting. Provides tip sheets to enhance user proficiency. Available to physicians and clinical staff for quick answers to questions.
  • Keeps abreast of changes and enhancements involving Crossing Rivers Health clinical information systems and communicates such changes and enhancements appropriately and in a timely manner.
  • Facilitates the two-way flow of information and communication for establishing and maintaining understanding between Information management Systems and Clinical Departments.
  • Troubleshoots software problems using techniques to isolate problems quickly.
  • Works to utilize and maintain all clinical systems.
  • Contacts EPIC with new tickets and maintains contact regarding the status of open tickets.
  • Instructs physician and clinical staff on electronic charting and use of EPIC programs and related computer equipment. Goes to physician clinics as needed for troubleshooting and/or training.
  • Follows through to ensure final resolution of problems, recommending long-term solutions when appropriate and communicating back to the individual reporting the problem.
  • Identifies quality improvement opportunities and barriers.
  • Other job duties and responsibilities as assigned to effectively meet the needs of the patients, the department, and the organization as a whole.
  • Attends EPIC user group meetings and/or studies clinical documentation to represent ideas and concerns for the effective use of Crossing Rivers Health Clinical Information Systems.
  • Works with the IT Director and and EPIC team to set up system configuration parameters and maintains computer documentation according to organization policy and procedure.
  • Acts as a liaison for clinical information systems for physicians and nurses.
  • Participates in the weekly on-call rotation.
  • Conducts on-going EPIC computer training and/or works in conjunction with IMS, Education, Physicians and Clinical staff, as needed, for the new procedures or changes in present computer procedures.
  • Assists with competency documentation for software training supplied by the Information management Systems and Education Departments.

Requirements:

Education

  • EPIC Certification preferred upon hire; EPIC Certification required within one year of employment.
  • Bachelor’s Degree Preferred, Field of Study: Nursing
  • Associate’s Degree Required, Field of Study: Nursing
  • Active RN License with the ability to practice in WI Required.

Experience

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in Nursing.

Computer Skills

  • Knowledge of EPIC Clinical Modules is preferred.
  • Must be comfortable utilizing MS office Suite.
  • Knowledge of computer software and hardware required.
  • Knowledge of various software applications advantageous.
  • Experience with developing and implementing clinical information systems desirable.

Other Requirements

  • Pharmacy and Automated Drug Dispensing knowledge and experience is a plus.
  • Understanding of medical terminology is required.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, presentation and analytical skills are required.
