Nurse Extern Edgewood Cicu

The nurse extern will perform skills that are routinely part of a nurse assistant’s job. Nurse externs will also be able to perform additional skills and tasks that have been taught in their academic accredited nursing education program. Job function performance is incumbent upon the nurse extern successfully completing/learning a particular skill in his/her accredited program of nursing. The nurse extern provides nursing assistance under the continuous, direct, on-site supervision of a registered nurse. Assists patients with activities of daily living; provides for personal care, comfort and assists in the maintenance of a safe and clean environment for an assigned group of patients. The nurse extern can perform clerical related duties on the unit.

Qualifications

Education, Credentials, Licenses:

Student nurses who are currently enrolled in a pre-licensure nursing program and will be entering their last year of a 4-year program and last term of a 2-year program.
Applicant must provide documentation of the following: Proof of active enrollment in board-approved prelicensure nursing program. Documentation of skill performance evaluation or official letter from nursing program documenting successful completion of education and clinical competency of skills.
Specialized Knowledge: Has been given satisfactory grade for specified nursing skills in their nursing program and can satisfactorily demonstrate these skills upon acceptance into the nurse extern program.
