Under general supervision, performs general and cardiac nuclear medicine procedures. Provides patients with safe, courteous and reliable care. Assists in other sections of the department as needed.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Nuclear Cameras and Instrumentation including function and operation, quality control, radiopharmaceuticals, ordering, proper selection, handling and preparation, storage and disposal, and proper radioactive materials documentation
  • Radiation Safety which includes a basic understanding of Facility Radioactive Materials (RAM) licensure, radiation exposure control for patients staff, and general public, personnel monitoring devices, area radiation monitoring and surveys, and handles radiation decontamination according to Federal and State guidelines
  • Assists Authorized Users in receipt and administration of Therapeutic Radionuclides
  • Maintains the cleanliness of the nuclear medicine department and equipment in accordance with infection control procedures
  • Gathers pertinent patient history and information to support radiologist interpretation of images and/or data
  • Diagnostic Procedures including Gamma Camera settings and operation and Image/Study positioning and acquisition procedures
  • Administration of oral and intravenous radiopharmaceuticals and standard adjunctive medications as authorized
  • Assists Radiology Support staff as needed in planning and scheduling Nuclear Medicine studies
  • Following TEC recommendations and department required procedures process’s, analyze’s and presents to interpreting physician in person or via PACS
  • Performs all phases of General and Cardiac Nuclear Medicine examinations. Updates and completes required paperwork for each examination performed
  • Attends department meetings and participates in in-service education

Required Qualifications:

  • Facility Radioactive Materials (RAM) licensure
  • Completion of a course in Nuclear Medicine Technology approved by the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) or the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) for registry eligibility
  • High School Diploma, or GED
  • Current NMTCB and/or ARRT licensure and current WA State certification

Preferred Qualification:

  • 1+ years of experience in Nuclear Medicine

Washington Residents Only: The hourly range for Washington residents is $27.07 to $53.08.
