Job Description
Overview
The Night Security Guard position is an important part of our safe operations. Because of the critical nature of many processes we use, a continuous monitoring of conditions is necessary during the night and all off-hours of operation. A security guard, through constant surveillance, is present and aware at all times of conditions around the plant, in order to take action in case of an emergency, by notifying maintenance, management, or outside authorities like fire department, or police.
Responsibilities and duties
Check-in with the shipping and receiving office before work on weekdays. Pick up wand and any special instructions from Plant Manager.
Review the departmental layout sheets for special notes and planned overnight activity.
Review maintenance on call list.
Complete Watchman pre-designated rounds, along with monitoring extra activity requirements noted on departmental layout sheet. There are 42 locations for watchman electronic wand interaction around the facility on predesignated routes. All 42 points are to be visited and scanned three (3) times, beginning, middle and end of the shift. (Grand Tour). Additional four (4) smaller tours (Data Tour) are required per shift.
All Boilers are to be recorded on daily round sheet for temperature and pressure.
Open and close the gates at designated times.
Monitor all alarm systems for any abnormal operation
If anyone is in the facility during non-working hours they must be signed in and out on the log sheet.
During non-round activity the Watchman is not to leave the premises, without authorization by the Plant Manager.
No Watchman guests are allowed without prior permission from the Plant Manager.
During weekend work, when replacing previous guard, communicate about prior events and get filled in on current conditions.
In case of an emergency and depending on the circumstances notify one or all of the following: Maintenance on call, Plant Manager, call 911 (Police and/or Fire Department).
Communicate with other guards and Plant Administrative Assistant to find and arrange for coverage during vacations and other planned absences.

Highly dependable
Good English communication skills; verbal, reading, writing
Willing and ready to learn
Able to stand for long periods of time and climb stairs
Able to work inside and outside during hot and cold months
Able to stay up all night
Able to read temperatures, pressure gauges and valve mechanisms
Able to pay attention to details on industrial equipment
Able to identify different types of liquids (water, oil, solvents)
Able to recognize abnormal alarm systems
Able to pinpoint and recognize emergency stop check points. (Hot oil shut off, etc.)
Able to identify electrical panels (lighting on/off switches, electrical disconnects, displays)
Able to calmly respond to emergency situations
Able to recognize and report suspicious activity
Able to observe and report incidents on property
Able to maintain detail-oriented log of events
Able to screen visitors (Covid 19, other)
Not intimidated or afraid to be alone at night in a large industrial facility
Able to drive a golf cart, day and night
Must possess a smart phone
Must have own transportation and valid driver’s license
