Job Description

KTVB, the TEGNA owned NBC affiliate in Boise, ID is looking for a highly skilled artistic News Photographer who can create sharable and exciting content for television, social media, and digital platforms. We are seeking a photojournalist who can visualize great stories on their own or with a team. Strong candidates understand how news video conveys information on-air and digital. Qualified candidates must be ready and able to create high quality content that meets newscast deadlines.

Responsibilities:

  • Operate news gathering vehicle to and from various locations, and execute live coverage using TVU or ENG technology
  • Develop news sources for general assignment and special areas of interest
  • Use creative production techniques such as graphics and new forms of media (viewer pictures, webcam interviews, etc.) to enhance stories
  • Produce original content on-air and on all digital platforms that evoke emotion and tell compelling stories
  • Attend editorial meetings, participate in discussions, and suggest story ideas
  • Use the latest video photography and editing tools to tell great stories
  • Perform other tasks as required by supervisor or executive management
  • Cover breaking, general, sports, feature, investigative, and political news stories

Job Requirements:

Requirements:

  • Understanding of the tenants of professional journalism
  • Organizational skills and the ability to work under constant time pressure deadlines
  • Demonstrated news judgment, photography experience, and non-linear editing skills
  • Ability to calmly handle live, breaking news situations and changing events
  • Experience in photojournalism, editing, and content management systems
  • Must be flexible with schedule, reliable and dependable
  • 2-5 years of experience preferred
  • Demonstrated social media proficiency, especially in the field, including an active news hound presence on Twitter and Facebook
  • Proven ability to generate creative, engaging, content-driven live shots
