Job Purpose:
The Neuroscience Sales Specialist will be responsible for the sales volume and share growth of the assigned product line as well as representing and promoting Novartis as a leader in the Neuroscience community. The Neuroscience Sales Specialist will be responsible for covering the assigned territory and will focus on the most productive and influential customers, including office and hospital-based physicians and other Neuroscience centers of influence. Another component of this role includes activities such as opinion leader development. The Neuroscience Sales Specialist must be able to develop relationships and maintain an active presence in the Neuroscience community, academic customers & associated organizations.
This is a remote position.
Your Key Responsibilities:
  • Develops and implements effective customer specific territory plans. Communicates insights to internal partners.
  • Executes business plans and drives achievement of sales targets for assigned territory, customers or therapeutic area.
  • Prioritizes time and effort to ensure optimal coverage of appropriate physician specialists based on opportunity and potential.
  • Develops and applies understanding of customer organizations and networks and of diverse influences that affect customer decisions (e.g. peer relationships).
  • Ensures that Novartis products and supporting services are broadly understood and available to more patients and customers.
  • Understands fully the assigned customers’ product and business needs and works to meet those needs while adhering to all of Novartis company ethics and compliance standards.
  • Deploys and uses approved Marketing and Sales promotional materials and programs and runs promotion programs and facilitates pull-through activities.
  • Executes call plans for customers, including medical specialists from customer or academic communities and calls on the right person to deliver the right message with the right frequency.

The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between $97,600 and $195,000 year; however, while salary ranges are effective from 1/1/23 through 12/31/23, fluctuations in the job market may necessitate adjustments to pay ranges during this period. Further, final pay determinations will depend on various factors, including, but not limited to geographical location, experience level, knowledge, skills, and abilities. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a sign-on bonus, restricted stock units, and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment. If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.

Minimum requirements

What You’ll Bring to the Role:
  • Bachelor's degree (preferably in Life Sciences, Pharmacy, or Business-related discipline).
  • Excellence in interpersonal communication, organization, prioritization, presentation skills, decision-making, tactical execution, and digital literacy.
  • Strong ability to collaborate and work cross-functionally within a matrix environment.
  • This is a remote position that will cover Key Accounts in Los Angeles, CA. Candidate must be based within that region or within a reasonable daily commuting distance. Ability to travel 60-80% over a broad geography is required, with the ability to drive and/or fly within the territory. No relocation available.
  • 3+ years of successful pharmaceutical sales experience, with 2+ years in Specialty Sales.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • 2 years’ experience in specialty pharmaceutical/biotech sales within the last 5 years.

Leveling Guidelines:
The position will be filled at level commensurate with experience.
Neuroscience Sales Specialist:
  • External: 3+ years of experience in pharmaceutical sales.
  • Internal: Novartis Sales Associate with experience in pharma/biotech sales.
Neuroscience Sr. Sales Specialist:
  • External: 7-10+ years of experience in pharmaceutical sales of which, 2 years was in specialty pharmaceutical/biotech sales within the last 5 years.
  • Internal: Novartis Sales Associate with experience in pharma/biotech sales.
