Job Description
Job Overview:
Our Redmond, WA Space Electronic site is looking for an NDT Technician 4 (second Shift). This position will perform nondestructive testing (NDT) of aerospace components and assemblies under general supervision. May also involve inspection of electro-mechanical systems during assembly and functional test operations. If necessary, additional inspection training in areas outside of NDT will be provided to the selected candidate.

This is a second shift position (3:30pm- 2:00am, can be flexible) Monday through Thursday, 10 hours per day. However, candidates must be willing to work other shifts, as well as overtime as needed.

This position may be filled at this level or one level higher.

Essential Functions:
Working under limited supervision:

40% - Perform NDT of products utilizing a variety of methods including ultrasonic immersion testing (UT), radiographic (RT), penetrant testing (PT), etc. Includes set-up, interpretation, evaluation and documentation of test results.

30% - Mechanical and electrical assembly inspection in an aerospace environment. Inspects product in accordance with applicable industry specifications, requirements, and written work instructions.

10% - Coordinates and communicates with the assembly supervision, customers and government inspectors to ensure prompt completion of all required inspections.

10% - Works with quality engineers to improve cost efficiency of inspection processes and develops improved inspection methods.

10% - Train or perform all the duties of lower graded inspectors as needed.

SECONDARY FUNCTIONS: Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
High School Diploma or equivalent preferred and six (6) year of related experience. May require certification in assigned area.

Must be qualified NDT Level 2 (or higher) per NAS 410 and have documentation to include certifications and training hours. Certification required within 3 months of hire. Certification in PT is preferred, and experience/certification in RT and UT are desirable. Experience working in an aerospace assembly/test environment is highly desirable. Must have the skills and knowledge to set up and standardize equipment, process parts, interpret, evaluate inspection results in terms of existing codes, standards, and specifications, and document results. Must be able to understand engineering drawings and specifications. Experience with visual inspection of welded and brazed components is a plus. Proven ability to perform a variety of tasks, often changing assignments on short notice. Must be able to communicate well.

Requires general knowledge of typical quality systems (ISO 9001, AS9100). Must have general computer skills to include MS Word, MS Excel, and ERP systems.

Requires U.S. Citizenship, U.S. Permanent Residency or other status as a U.S. Person. Must be able to satisfy federal government requirements for access to government information and having dual citizenship may preclude you from being able to meet this requirement.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle or feel. The employee is regularly expected to stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, stoop and kneel. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Successful passing of initial and annual visual acuity exams required. Employee will need to work near moving mechanical parts and in loud working conditions. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to fumes, chemicals or airborne particles.
