Description:

The purpose of the NDT trainee or level 1 is to acquire the knowledge and skills needed to become a level 2 inspector. To complete the required on the job hours for each discipline as well as the classroom hours.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Acquire and retain knowledge from the required classroom training.
  • Asking questions, taking a pro-active stance on education
  • Daily calibrations, working closely with the level 2’s to learn and complete the daily calibrations correctly and in a timely fashion.
  • Spending time in the viewing room with the level 2 or 3 evaluating parts.
  • Housekeeping, changing and rinsing out tanks, wiping down machines, mopping floors, etc.
  • Learn the proper processing techniques for Mag. and Penetrant.
  • Learning how to fill out paper work properly
  • Read through internal and customer procedures to become more familiar with codes and specifications.
  • Processing parts with known discontinuities and learning how to evaluate parts
  • Document and maintain on the job training hours in a log. Separate the magnetic particle from the liquid penetrant.
  • Assisting the level 2’s with the processing of jobs
  • Watching the level 2 or 3 and acquiring the skill to properly disposition parts.

  • Demonstrates proficiency at the required skills
  • Assisting inspection process with level 2 supervision and understands process
  • Maintains safe operations through 5S and by adhering to safety procedures and regulations
  • Training and Calibrations are up to date
