National Online News Editor

The National Desk (TND) has an immediate opening for a National Online News Editor!
DUTIES:

• Research long-term video projects
• Pitch video ideas daily based on topical news
• Edit creative videos for The National Desk digital and broadcast platforms
• Monitor analytics to measure story performance
• Daily news aggregation from around the web and editing of wire service content
• Other editorial duties as assigned
• Ability to react to and post breaking news quickly and accurately is a core expectation of this position

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Excellent writing skills and knowledge of AP style required
• BA/BS degree or equivalent (Degree in journalism or related field strongly preferred)
• Experience with Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Reddit and other social media platforms
• Must have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• Ability to work under strict deadlines
• Must be able to handle stress, including short deadlines
• Expertise in non-linear editing and archiving platforms (AVID, Adobe, Final Cut)
• Strong understanding of content usage rights management and restrictions.
• Excellent organizational and critical thinking skills
• Must be self-motivating and able to work well with a diverse group of people
• Minimum of seven (7) years of news/broadcast/online video editing experience

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Must be able to sit for extended periods of time.
• Must be able to read and write (with or without corrective devices).
• Must be able to work at a computer for extended periods of time.
• Must be able to work overnights/nights/weekends
• Must be able to speak clearly (with or without corrective devices).
