Position Details: Full-time, 80 hours per pay period, position does include working every 4th weekend and two scheduled holidays. Hours will be 8:30am to 5:00pm. Rooted in history, Saint Therese of New Hope is our largest community. This care center has 258 skilled nursing beds for long-term and transitional care. In addition, the Residence at Saint Therese of New Hope houses 225 independent apartments and suites for assisted living and memory care. Responsibilities: This position plans, organizes, and leads small groups and one to one music therapy programs for residents; uses music as a means of achieving therapeutic goals and objectives to restore, maintain, and improve mental and physical health. Qualifications: Education: Bachelor\'s degree in Music Therapy, from a school approved by the American Music Therapy Association (AMTA) . Must be Board- Certified. Experience: One year previous experience with recreation/music therapy department in health care center preferred. Special Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Interest in working with elderly Able to communicate through English, both oral and written skills Able to direct and instruct residents and staff using music therapy techniques and adaptation techniques in programs Able to generate enthusiasm during programs Able to work with all health care team members Able to use computer keyboard, mouse, and printer and/or willing to learn Possesses skills to sing while accompanying self on the piano, guitar, and other musical instruments Arrange and transpose music to suitable singing key Arrange and write music for Tone Chimes group New grads encouraged to apply Saint Therese complies with the CMS mandate by requiring our team members be vaccinated against COVID-19.
