Music Teacher - Part Time Or Full Time

Summary

Teach music classes two days per week to elementary students. You can also add two classes for middle and high school students as well as band, if interested on the other 3 days.



Duties

• Act as advisers to student organizations.
• Prepare course materials, such as syllabi, homework assignments, and handouts.
• Supervise undergraduate or graduate teaching, internship, and research work.
• Perform administrative duties, such as serving as department head.
• Evaluate and grade students' class work, performances, projects, assignments, and papers.
• Initiate, facilitate, and moderate classroom discussions.
• Maintain student attendance records, grades, and other required records.
• Plan, evaluate, and revise curricula, course content, course materials, and methods of instruction.
• Participate in campus and community events.
• Provide professional consulting services to government or industry.
• Maintain regularly scheduled office hours to advise and assist students.
• Compile bibliographies of specialized materials for outside reading assignments.
• Collaborate with colleagues to address teaching and research issues.
• Prepare students for performances, exams, or assessments.
• Organize performance groups and direct their rehearsals.
• Conduct research in a particular field of knowledge and publish findings in professional journals, books, or electronic media.
• Prepare and deliver lectures to undergraduate or graduate students on topics such as acting techniques, fundamentals of music, and art history.
• Compile, administer, and grade examinations, or assign this work to others.
• Explain and demonstrate artistic techniques.
• Serve on academic or administrative committees that deal with institutional policies, departmental matters, and academic issues.
• Participate in student recruitment, registration, and placement activities.
• Write grant proposals to procure external research funding.
• Select and obtain materials and supplies, such as textbooks and performance pieces.
• Keep abreast of developments in the field by reading current literature, talking with colleagues, and participating in professional conferences.
• Advise students on academic and vocational curricula and on career issues.
• Display students' work in schools, galleries, and exhibitions.
• Keep students informed of community events, such as plays and concerts.

• Teach music fundamentals.
• Be able to play at least one instrument and read music.
• Write grant proposals.

• A love for Christ since we do offer weekly chapel and we love for our students to have praise and worship each week.
• Experience teaching music and working with a variety of instruments
• The ability to build relationships with students and inspire them to appreciate music.
• Knowledge of how to use a SMART board to interface with the computer. This allows the teacher to project internet searches, virtual field trips, and a variety of educational tools to promote your subject area.
