Summary


Are you an experienced creative thinker and visual storyteller? Someone who is energized by collaborating with teams to develop engaging and innovative solutions that meet marketing/communication goals? Michigan Creative, the largest provider of creative services to the University of Michigan, is seeking a Multimedia Designer to join our team. In this role, you will design a wide variety of projects for the Office of the Vice President for Communications and other clients across U-M's 19 schools and colleges, Michigan Medicine, and multiple institutes and centers. You will be responsible for creating the overall look and feel of print and digital campaigns and maintaining the university's brand standards across all efforts. This position reports to the Creative Director.

Responsibilities*


  • Lead visual storytelling through the conceptualization, design and execution of innovative and strategic communication and marketing materials across digital and print platforms.
  • Develop assets by working with internal staff and external vendors to execute creative ideas in photography, video, animation, design, etc.
  • Direct freelance designers and vendors as needed to maintain design standards and meet client communication needs.
  • Contribute to large and complex projects that meet institutional needs by collaborating with account managers, writers, production managers, web developers, campus partners and vendors.
  • Create content hierarchies for most effective delivery of messages. Assess and determine client's communication needs and make appropriate recommendations based on overall communications strategies.


Required Qualifications*


  • Portfolio providing examples of creative solutions and complex integrated campaigns that you've developed and designed.
  • 5+ years of professional design experience creating successful campaigns, from concept development to design and production.
  • Expertise in Adobe Creative Suite with an emphasis on Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign. Experience with After Effects, Figma, Sketch or Adobe XD a plus.

  • Excellent presentation and communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize work and resources (timelines, budgets, and capacity) across short- and long-term projects.
  • Working knowledge of market research, brand development, interactive design, user-centered experience design, digital marketing and the creative process.


Work Locations


Michigan Creative is currently hybrid, working in the office at least two days a week.
