POSITION SUMMARY
The Telemetry/Monitor Technician is responsible for accurate record keeping, observation of monitors and prompt reporting of cardiac rhythm changes. The Telemetry/Monitor Technician must possess effective communication skills. This position will routinely perform Unit Secretary duties for the unit as assigned (see Unit Secretary ). This position requires the full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the Mission of Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Hospital. It is expected that the employee will demonstrate behavior consistent with the Core Values. The employee shall support Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Hospital’s strategic plan and the goals and direction of the quality and performance improvement process activities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Performs clerical duties efficiently and accurately (See Unit Secretary )
- Detects and promptly reports changes in parameters monitoring cardiac rhythms
- Any other duties assigned by Clinical Unit Supervisor
- Prioritize and assist with unit activities based on patient needs under the direction of the RN
- Arrhythmias-maintain strips and reporting changes
- Demonstrate effective time management and organizational skills
- Participates in unit-based initiatives that promote patient safety and support customer service goals
- Wears name badge where visible
- Presents a clean, professional, well groomed image
- Adheres to dress policy
- Is sensitive to customer’s physical, social, and cultural needs
- Performs ongoing observation of the cardiac monitors and interprets cardiac rhythms correctly.

- Demonstrates sense of ownership, pays attention to details, and ensures all mandatory obligations are met.
- Gives all customers their full attention and treats them with dignity, respect and understanding

- Ensure timely and accurate communication of patient information with all members of the health care team
- Documents clearly and accurately
- Demonstrates safe and effective use or computers, scanners, tube system, central station monitoring system, and telemetry transmitters
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
A. Education
- High School Diploma or G.E.D Equivalency preferred
B. Qualifications/Experience
- A minimum of 1 years working as a Telemetry Monitor Technician. Internal Candidate without the minimum experience that have completed the required training will be considered at management's discretion.
C. Special Skills/Knowledge
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Basic Computer skills
