Job Description

The Company

Anvesana, Inc. is a venture-backed startup leveraging our insights into RNA biology and gene regulation to develop therapeutics for treating genetic disorders. Most genetic diseases have no approved therapy and while many are individually rare, collectively they are estimated to impact nearly 10% of the population. The insights provided by our RNA-seq analysis platform allows us to develop novel strategies for treating disorders caused by gene dosage effects.

Position Description

Anvesana is seeking a full-time, bench scientist to join our team. You will interact with internal and external biologists, data scientists and world-class leaders in the field of RNA biology. As one of our first employees you will play an essential role in validating our platform and leading the company to success. You will be part of a small collegial team and should thrive working independently in a fluid startup environment. The ideal candidate will have experience with cellular and molecular assays, in vitro biochemical assay development and in vivo disease models. A record of research excellence, broad scientific expertise and enthusiasm for problem solving are more important than specialization in a particular skill set. The position will be based in New York City.

Major Responsibilities:

·Independently design, execute, interpret, and troubleshoot scientific experiments to advance our drug discovery program

·Outsource, review, analyze and interpret in vitro and in vivo results generated by external contract research organizations

·Provide strategic input on therapeutic target selection and portfolio construction

·Communicate research findings, generate reports, and maintain databases

·Establish standard operating procedures for the laboratory

Preferred Qualifications:

·A PhD in Molecular Biology (or related degree) or a MS in Molecular Biology (or related degree) plus industry experience

·Extensive experience with cell culture and cell-based assays (iPSC studies, CRISPR editing)

·Familiarity with antisense/siRNA/shRNA technologies

·Familiarity with RNA regulation (splicing, polyadenylation, translation) and RNA-seq techniques
