We are looking for an experienced and self-motivated individual to fill the position of Mechanic/Millwright at the Dallas Silicates Plant with our Manufacturing Facility located in Dallas, Texas.
- Utilizes the maintenance files and other engineering data as a resource in solving plant mechanical problems.
- Maintain protection of the environment and the health and safety of our employees, customers, and the communities in which we operate and/or transport our products, as our highest priority.
- Performs recordkeeping required to properly document inspections and repairs performed.
- Understand and assess the daily operation of various types of equipment including, pumps, gear boxes, conveyors, screw feeders, and blowers. Based on assessment, provide recommendations to improve reliability.
- Attends company or vendor training as directed.
- Performs work associated with fabrication, assembly, disassembly and repair of vessels, movement and set-up of equipment.
- Maintains craft skills over time to ensure ability to complete assigned work.
- Perform preventative/predictive maintenance and troubleshoot problems. Determine material needs, sequence of operations, and job methods including the use of a computer for storing and using information for preventive/predictive maintenance.
- Prefer candidate that is proficient in math
- Be familiar with SAP, RMP, warehouse parts management, design specifications, and applicable MI procedures.
- Maintain equipment to design specifications including, but not limited to fans, gear reducers/increasers & other mechanical equipment (valves, operators, testing tools). Replace pump seals, mechanical seals, pump packing. Provide proper alignment for all rotating equipment. Keep conveying and palletizing systems in working order
- Prefer candidate that is comfortable with computers
- Monitor condition of rotating machinery utilizing parameters including vibration, temperature, pressures, flows and currents.
Qualifications - External
- Valid driver’s license required.
- Must be skilled in the following: millwright or mechanic, safe use of shop tools, basic machining skills, basic welding skills, proper rigging knowledge.
- High School Diploma or GED
- Must be able to read process flow diagrams, P&IDs, mechanical drawings and follow mechanical specifications.
- This position requires proof of the NCCER certification or another industry or nationally recognized standard prior to employment (millwright, pump technician, maintenance machinist etc).
- Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to work as part of a team.
- Ability to read, speak, and write English.
- Physical requirements – Must be able to lift 40 lbs, climb ladders and stairs. Walking, bending, stooping is required. Must be able to wear personal protective equipment including the use of a respirator. Must be able to respond to visual and audible alarms.
- Able to work overtime, weekends and holidays as needed to maintain a 24/7 operating plant.
- A minimum of 5 years mechanical experience in any of the following: millwright or mechanic activities in an industrial environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft applications.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Additional Desired Qualifications:
- Good working knowledge of SAP.
- Welding and pipe fitting knowledge are a plus
