This role in summary


Whirlpool is seeking qualified candidates for a Mig Welder. The position is for our Fall River, MA location.


This position requires a person to set up, operate, and tend mig welding machines to produce weldments. They must pay HIGH attention to detail and work under limited supervision. They must efficiently perform the running of a mig welder. This job involves collaborating with other team members to help meet department goals and objectives.


Work Hours: 1st shift 4:45am-1:15pm or 6:45am-3:15pm


Hourly Rate: $22.50


Your responsibilities will include

  • Set up jobs by selecting appropriate jigs, fixtures, weld patterns, components, programs, tooling, etc. and using them correctly.
  • Properly maintain, record and handle material.
  • Will be lifting at least 35lbs consistently.
  • Produce quality product in a team environment to meet department goals and objectives
  • Able to identify/read and mig -weld per print including weld symbols.
  • Troubleshooting, determining causes of operating errors and deciding what to do about it.
  • Assist in maintaining the department's production schedule.
  • Use hand tools/machines/hoists, etc. to assemble parts for welding.
  • Have basic working knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
  • Operate/tend the welding machines, including monitoring of gauges, the appearance of the weld stitches, the sound of the welding machine, & other feedback mechanisms - & tuning them to optimize the welding process for quality & efficiency.
  • Bending, squatting, walking or standing for long periods of time may occur
  • Perform TIG welding process as needed
  • Conduct quality control checks on your work by inspecting, operating, and testing your finished products/processes to verify functioning, machine capabilities, or conformance to required specifications, and make any needed adjustments or repairs immediately.
  • Perform cleaning operations (scale & BB removal, etc.) on parts post-weld.
  • Learn and follow all procedures associated with the welding department.
  • Read and understand schematics, drawings, and other work instructions.
  • Perform other supporting processes, such as basic routine maintenance, clocking in/out of jobs electronically so that parts can be tracked, and helping control costs by operating effectively & efficiently.

Minimum requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 1+ years of welding experience

Preferred skills and experiences

  • Mig welding stainless steel
  • Forklift training
  • 3+ years of welding experience
  • Self-motivated individual which understands the importance of time constraints.
  • Experience reading engineering drawings
  • Experience on how to operate a jib and/or bridge crane
  • Knowledge and awareness of all safety protocols
  • Experience reading and understanding welding instruction and procedures
  • Proficient in Tig welding RSRWH
