Job Description
Essex Westford School District is seeking a Middle school Science Teacher at Essex Middle School. This position is expected to begin in the 2023/2024 school year. The ideal candidate has a genuine interest, appreciation, and love of middle school students. A thorough understanding of middle-level best practices, strong content knowledge, and a commitment to collaboration in a professional learning community focused on supporting all students.EWSD is committed to considering out-of-state candidates who are eligible to hold a Vermont educator license but do not yet hold a license in this state. Folks with experience working in another country, the ability to fluently speak more than one language, peace corp. experience, and/or otherworldly experience are encouraged to apply to help contribute to a diversity of thinking and grow our organizational practices.Candidates with the following qualifications are encouraged to apply:
  • Valid Educator license, or ability to hold a VT educator license, with middle-level science and math endorsements.
  • The ability and enthusiasm to effectively engage and inspire students to excel in science.
  • Excellent teaching, organizational, planning, written and oral communication, creative and collaborative skills. Ability to be a contributing member of an established interdisciplinary team.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement in the areas of knowledge and professional practice as part of our professional learning community.
  • Understanding of the Common Core Standards as they relate.
  • Knowledge and/or experience in developing standards-based units, assessments, reports, and differentiated instruction to support all students learning.
  • Ability to effectively integrate social and emotional learning in the classroom to help all students succeed.
