We are currently looking for a Messaging Infrastructure Engineer with on-prem experience in Exchange 2016/2019 and Exchange Online that will be responsible for the effective and successful management of the Hybrid Exchange environment .
The Technology Reliability Engineering and Operations (TREO) organization is a key information technology group supporting our valued internal and external customers. TREO aligns up through the Chief Technology Officer and provides IT services such as hosting, security operations, application, voice, business intelligence infrastructure, collaboration services, and end user support. We focus on both operating and innovating our services to ensure continuous efficiency and modernization. The Messaging Infrastructure Engineer will:
Perform application / service health checks of the messaging infrastructure.
Perform maintenance, application configuration and performance tuning, account management, software upgrades, and monitoring across multiple environments.
Assess and maintain SLA’s, system availability, capacity management, and performance KPIs to help improve service performance, capabilities, and interoperability.
Monitor system alerts, system utilization thresholds, and capacity utilization on servers.
Provide advice, support, training, and assistance in the proper, efficient and effective use of the application.
Cultivate relationships and leverage organizational understanding to facilitate decision making and buy-in
Engineering responsibility for supporting company-wide enterprise level messaging infrastructure.
Works with Exchange, Mobile Messaging and IM. Creates and maintains Infrastructure documentation.
Ensures project documents are complete, current, and stored appropriately.
Functions as the final point of escalation for all messaging-related troubleshooting.
Other duties as assigned.
Technical Experience & Qualifications:
Expertise in designing and supporting high availability, backup, and disaster recovery as it relates to Microsoft Exchange
Advanced knowledge in supporting messaging technologies like Junk Email filtering, Antivirus, TLS, SMTP, DNS MX, Sendmail, and Secure/Encrypted Email
Advanced level understanding of Exchange/Exchange Online in a hybrid configuration; Scripting / System administration programming (PowerShell, VB Script, Ruby, Perl, etc.); designing and building automation of common administrative tasks.
Advanced understanding of infrastructure elements such as A/D, WAN, DNS, DHCP, WINS, SSL, TCP/IP
Strong understanding of network concepts including TCP/IP, SIP, routing, SMTP, DNS, DHCP, load balancers, etc.
6+ years’ experience in supporting and maintaining Microsoft Exchange Server, systems management and administration experience with an in-depth understanding of operating systems, including Microsoft Windows Server programming, systems analysis or other directly related experience; and requires a Bachelor’s in computer science, information systems or other related field
Solid presentation, oral/written communication, and inter-personal skills including the ability to anticipate, influence & adapt to a wide range of audiences
Advanced analytical, organizational and problem solving skills required
Microsoft Exchange and/or messaging related certification(s) preferred
Must be available to work flexible hours; on-call availability 24/7
Preferred experience in one or more of the following:
Proofpoint on Demand / Proofpoint Protection Server
Proofpoint Email Fraud Defense
Experience with and exposure to cloud ready and cloud native contexts, both using on-prem technologies (e.g., OpenShift) as well as public cloud service (e.g., Azure, AWS, IBM, GCP)
Experience with CI/CD (e.g., Azure Devops Pipelines, Jenkins, GitLab)
Google Cloud Platform (GCP Experience)
Agile development methodologies (e.g., SAFe, Kanban, Scrum)
Experience managing complex customer facing platforms, processes, and tools
Working knowledge of financial/banking systems preferred
A combination of education and experience may meet qualifications.
Location: This position has a hybrid work from home schedule with a minimum of three days per week in the office at the Zions Technology Center in Midvale, UT.
