SCOPE OF POSITION
\
The Merchandise Processor is responsible for the safe handling of all goods and materials, as well as marking and moving merchandise in the day-to-day operations of the Thrift Store.
\
Minimum Qualifications
\
- Knowledge of merchandise pricing.
- Basic computer skills.
- Previous experience working in a warehouse or retail environment.
- Ability to carry out oral and written instructions with a minimum of supervision.
\
Essential Job Functions
\
- Participation in Thrift Store staff meetings
- Responsible for floor maintenance and cleanliness on a daily basis, as well as regular restroom cleanliness and essentials replenishment
- Refer customer complaints to management.
- Ability to assess condition and value of goods quickly and accurately.
- Sanitize furniture and domestics as required.
- Assists with the loss prevention program, reporting all incidents to management in a timely manner. Report safety hazards; assists in the protection of property, vehicles, and buildings.
- Handling and sorting of donated materials.
- Works to maintain warehouse cleanliness inside and out.
- Price inspected goods and prepare for placement on sales floor.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
\
Speaking, sitting, bending, walking, pushing, pulling, standing, kneeling, stooping, reaching, handling, fingering, climbing, and balancing. Hearing and visual acuity must be within normal limits. Lifting and moving objects weighing up to 50 pounds. Driving a motor vehicle.
\

WORK ENVIRONMENT
\
Work is primarily performed throughout the store building. Occasional exposure to cold temperatures and wet conditions. Noise level is generally low to medium. Hearing protection may be worn when working around operating machinery.

Software-related Skills
\
Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook familiarity preferred. Working knowledge of integrated database applications and ability to use new software programs with basic training.
\
Language Skills
\
Must be able to understand, follow and give both written and oral instructions and be comfortable working with diverse individuals in face-to-face contact and over the telephone. The employee must be able to use speech and hearing for ordinary and telephone conversation.
\
Mathematical Skills
\
Must be able to perform simple calculations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division) and apply concepts such as ratios and percentages in practical situations.
\
Performance Skills
\
Must be punctual, organized, self-motivated, flexible, and possess a desire to learn and assist those he/she interacts with.

Must complete the online course for this area and pass the Background Checks required by The Salvation Army for employment.
