AMS has a Mercedes - Logistics Specialist role in Vance, AL 35490. This is a contract-to-hire position, market rates and we can offer hourly or salary compensation, benefits, and 5-weeks of PTO!!!

JOB DESCRIPTION

Under general supervision, this position is responsible for the development, coordination and standardization of all Sustainability and Green Logistics Activities of the Transportation Logistics for Inbound Material and Finished Vehicles for all Mercedes-Benz (MB) entities in the USMCA (USA, Mexico and Canada) markets. In addition, this function will also be supporting the Prototype Part Logistics Process of MB ExTra.

Duties and responsibilities


Sustainability Transportation Network

  • Prepare regular CO2 Emission reports including the savings generated for the different business units.
  • Prepare and lead regular meetings with the BU's, Business Partners in Germany and with management to report on current status and progress.
  • Plan and prepare Business Reviews with each BU's and carries.
  • Analyze and determine the best green transportation mode for each operation, plant, supplier and part in the USMCA markets for Inbound and Outbound Transportation including identifying short term pilot projects and long-term green transportation strategy.
  • Initiate supplier discussions in the event of deviating delivery dates with decision-making, subsequent follow-up measures and escalation into the R&D department
  • Create Transparency regarding order and tracking status in the assigned scope of Supply Chain Management with all involved stakeholders (external suppliers, transportation companies, internal departments, and customers)
  • Prototype Parts Ordering
  • Initiate and lead Projects with transportation providers, partners and institutions including the internal and external communication of the activities.
  • Manage requests for Prototype Parts coming from R&D, which involves collaborating with R&D and internal Finance MB ExTra Finance Department to ensure all required documentation is complete and accurate for processing the shipments.
  • Support MB ExTra in all Prototype Part Supply Chain Activities including ordering, tracking and communication with all partners involved.
  • Execute the department goals and milestones including, but not limited to, re-design of processes for tender planning and contract management for transportation logistic services.
  • Work with procurement of transportation logistics network to select carriers and support to negotiate the optimal green logistics service and cost solution.
  • Continuous development of USMCA Transportation Market knowledge to support the center of competence strategy for MB ExTra
  • Develop and align sustainability contract language together with the business partners and legal group to support the implementation of the Mercedes Benz Ambition 2039
  • Incorporate the Mercedes-Benz Sustainability Strategy into the tender specifications.
  • Document and implement compliant and efficient processes for planning and procurement of green transportation logistic services.
  • Perform safe work practices and participate in training and safety programs in a positive and proactive way by following safety rules, procedures, regulations, standards and laws. Report all unsafe acts, unsafe conditions, and injuries to supervisor or Human Resources. Work safely 100% of the time
  • Coordination with external suppliers on delivery dates and delivery date confirmations as well as ensuring timely delivery and delivery confirmation.
  • Develop Sustainability milestone plan for the respective networks/Business Units and provide regular updates to Business Units (BU) and management of the project goals and milestones.
  • Perform other duties as required.
  • Work towards continuous improvement to address delivery, quality, and cost.

Professional Experience

  • 5 years of experience in Supply Chain Management, Transportation Management, Project Management or Purchasing


Required Skills (These skills are essential to perform the job)

  • Experience with data organization, data scrubbing and data management, Strong Analytical Skills
  • Transportation market knowledge in the USA
  • Main frame system knowledge: SAP, Advanced knowledge: Word, Excel, MS Project, Power Point and Power BI
  • Ability to work within a team environment.
  • Supply Chain and Project Management Background

  • Transportation Market Knowledge also in Canada and Mexico
