Essential Job-Related Responsibilities
  • Individual/group and family therapist
  • Supervision/in-service trainings
  • Participated in SAP meetings
  • Crisis intervention/support
  • Intake and ongoing regulatory assessments
  • School collaboration/liaison
  • Treatment plan development/reviews
  • Collaborates with Mental Health Professional on client and family needs/concerns
Work skills
  • Must have knowledge of various therapy techniques and counseling strategies applicable to serving complex family systems.
  • Must display professional attitude.
  • Must have knowledge of child development and common behavioral disorders exhibited by children and adolescents.
  • Must have strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must display empathy, active listening skills, critical thinking/problem solving skills
  • Must possess strong interpersonal skills to establish and maintain effective working relationships with child, parent/guardian, treatment team members, and other personnel involved in child’s treatment.
  • Must possess ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with children, families, and staff from a variety of cultures and social backgrounds.
  • Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.

Required Competencies (Mental Health Worker-Outpatient)
  • Attend required supervision sessions and staff meetings in accordance with program/company requirements.
  • Works collaboratively with treatment team and stakeholders t0 assure all client treatment needs are met.
  • Attend mandated, group, individual and team supervision as scheduled.
  • Being available to transport client and/or families in the community, as necessary.
  • Following Policies and Procedures- Understands and follows company policies; encourages others to follow work rules; calls attention to actions that may violate policies and procedures.
  • Proactively plans for all session to promote an intentionally postured service approach.
  • Be available to de-escalate/divert hospitalization and/or assist in facilitating a hospitalization if deemed medically necessary.
  • Displaying Creativity - (Supported by Synergize) - Uses creativity appropriately to drive progress and encourages others to do the same. Makes innovation a priority among team members.
  • Training/supervision - Has an authentic interpersonal style that engages others and encourages high performance in
  • Document treatment data/results that are clinically relevant on progress notes and submit in a timely manner (within 24 hours of each encounter).
  • Prioritizing and Organizing Work-(Supported by Put First Things First) Allocates time and attention based on what is most important to achieve key goals and objectives. Effectively organizes and balances tasks and priorities to keep multiple projects on track.
  • Setting Objectives and Goals-(Supported by Beginning with the End in Mind) – Create meaningful, measurable, and attainable treatment plan goals and objectives for treatment planning, as well as personal and professional development
  • Complete client intake paperwork per company/program guidelines and regulations.
  • Adheres to Mandated Reporter protocol and effectively communicates concerns with program management.
  • Accepting Responsibility (Supported by Be Proactive) -Takes accountability for delivering on commitments; owns mistakes; and uses them as opportunities for learning and development; openly discusses his or her actions and their consequences, both good and bad.
  • Utilize crisis prevention techniques as deemed appropriate.
  • Meeting Basic Work Expectations-Complies with basic job requirements and tasks; arrives at work on time as scheduled; proactively informs others when he/she encounters problems that may limit his/her ability to meet expectations.
  • Adheres to HIPAA privacy regulations and Department of Human Services/CASSP principle guidelines.
  • Assists in maintains client schedules to assure we are meeting their needs and scheduling when they are available. Submitting electronic health records and time worked within expected time frames.
  • Completes EVS insurance eligibility checks as needed
  • Managing Stress-(Supported by Sharpening the Saw) Uses healthy and effective methods to manage stress (e.g., maintaining appropriate diet, exercise, and sleep schedules); reacts effectively when faced with high-pressure situations
  • Independently research creative and relevant interactive therapeutic interventions
  • Communicating Effectively (Supported by Seek First to Understand then to be Understood) -Share’s information. Listens and involves others. Clearly Conveys ideas in a manner that engages others and helps them understand and retain the message. Communicates with other providers and coordinates care regularly with all individuals involved in treatment.
  • Championing the needs of the People we Support/Customers (Supports Culture of Caring)-Provides timely and professional service to both internal requests and the requests of the people we support and customers; is responsive to the people we support and customers' needs and requests. Is always courteous to the people we support or customer and considers the needs of the people we support or customer when making decisions.
  • Assists in maintaining an organized schedule to maximize productivity.
  • Attend trainings and conferences as directed by supervisor, in accordance with company policy, and pursuant to applicable regulations.
  • Adhere to scheduled sessions and attend required supervision.
  • Complete recurrent assessments and treatment plans within the regulated timeframes.
  • Collaborate with other providers to secure appropriate aftercare/discharge services and community linkages supports during the course of treatment.
  • Work collaboratively with members of the treatment team and other service providers to ensure comprehensive case management.
  • Develops and updates treatment plans for all clients on caseload or as directed.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and other miscellaneous meetings, as necessary
