This position is responsible for the development and delivery of Mental Health services in the Homeless Youth Outreach Program. This position will involve training, program supervision, collaboration with site partners, and ongoing program management. This position functions as part of the psychiatric team and provides counseling interventions for children and families on an outpatient basis. This position receives supervision of work activities from the Division of Pediatric and Adolescent Medicine Division Chief, Director and Practice Manager, and Division Chief of Psychiatry, with collabortation with the Psychiatry and Psychology Practice Manager. This position will provide necessary ongoing training and technical support to ensure the Mental Health services are being completed in a professional and productive manner.
Position Duties
- Provide ongoing counseling interventions
- Provides ongoing counseling interventions that build on family strengths and addresses ongoing mental health needs or coping skills that may be interfering with self-sufficiency or medical adherence. Use clinical best practices to engage families and achieve positive clinical outcomes. Ensure services are clinically necessary and appropriately documented for insurance reimbursement. Provide services in accordance with PCH policies and practices.

- Assess the bio-psychosocial status of the patient within the family structure. This may include, but is not limited to mental status exam, coping skills, cognitive abilities, safety issues, suicide risk assessment, and any other issues that may be impeding the child or family from successfully managing their mental health symptoms or coping issues. Ensures assessments are documented appropriately for insurance reimbursement. Comply with PCH policies and practices.

- Including the review of program flow and processes, maintaining program materials, development and coordination of educational trainings for staff related to Mental Health and the populations served, and promoting site partnerships for the Mental Health service.
