Normal Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm

Job Summary: The Mental Health Professional II (MHP II) provides clinical services to clients and fulfills specific clinical and supervisory functions. Some of the primary responsibilities include providing clinical services, completing client assessments and case management. The MHP II may exercise clinical oversight and supervision, serve as a liaison among stakeholders and provide significant discipline-specific and agency-wide leadership on clinical matters.

Additional Department Summary: The Staff Therapist - Women and Gender Resource Center provides direct counseling services to enrolled University of Alabama students. The position also has responsibility for outreach and consultation services to members of the University community, and, as needed, training to students in the mental health professions.
Responsible for completing required training and promoting a safe, hospitable, and respectful workplace. Has personal accountability for financial reporting and responsibility for establishing, enforcing, and following internal processes and controls as outlined in UA policies and procedures.

Required Minimum Qualifications: Master's degree in a mental health related field. Two years of mental health experience. Licensure in the state of Alabama.

Skills and Knowledge: Demonstrated commitment to expand multicultural knowledge, awareness, and skills as evidenced through: demonstrating self awareness; understanding and valuing others; demonstrating knowledge of social inequalities; interacting effectively with a diversity of people; fostering equity and inclusion.

Preferred Qualifications: Experience working with college students is desirable as well as group facilitation. Previous background or familiarity with trauma-informed direct client services is helpful, especially as it pertains to interpersonal violence (e.g., sexual assault, dating/domestic violence, harassment, stalking, childhood abuse, etc.) Knowledge of gender justice and social justice frameworks is beneficial.
