Job Description
Position Summary


Provides administrative services coordination/collaboration for mental health hearings.


Position Responsibilities


  • Maintain a supply of IN State Department of Health and medical history forms for attorneys to obtain.
  • Prepare orders for continued long-term commitments that do not require hearings; prepare the appropriate paperwork/information for adoptions; prepare written communication as needed for proceedings; receive petitions for release of identifying or non-identifying information and coordinate the appointment of, and results from, confidential intermediary.
  • Assists with other duties and responsibilities as needed.
  • Review all applications for emergency detention and forward to appropriate law enforcement agencies; Review all petitions for mental health hearings, insuring guidelines are met; Receive and review petitions for apprehension and return of patients on provisional out-patient status; Review all new adoption files for accuracy and review home studies/adoption summaries.
  • Daily check of the diary system for annual periodic filings by facilities with patients under long-term commitment. Request periodic reports from mental health providers.
  • Arrange for transportation of mental health patients from one facility to another as requested.
  • Function as Court Reporter in mental health hearings when assigned Reporter is unavailable.


Qualifications


High School diploma or equivalent is required. Post high school education preferred. Experience in coordination of services required. Ability to deal with confidential and sensitive information in a timely and appropriate manner. Ability to communicate and interact with diverse groups of individuals a must. Strong computer skills including proven experience with Microsoft Office products. Experience in social services preferred (mental health or adoption services experience a plus). Must be detail-oriented with high level of accuracy in work and the ability to multi-task. Excellent organizational skills are essential.


Salary is based on applicable experience. Enhancements for education and bi-lingual skills are available.


Must be a Marion County resident within six months of the date of hire.
