Job Description
MPF Federal is seeking a Medical Records Clerk to be responsible for the maintenance of medical records and responding to requests and releases for health information/records for the occupational medical clinic at the Hanford Nuclear Site.


Pay range from $18.00 to $20.60 is based on several factors including experience, skills, and education. Benefits include retirement planning, paid vacation and federal holidays, medical benefits and employee wellness programs.


Responsibilities Include, But Not Limited To


  • Perform close business functions for the Health Information Department; secure all confidential health information.
  • Verify appropriate exam procedures on computerized scheduling screen.
  • Maintain and utilize a variety of health record index, storage and retrieval systems; operate standard equipment (i.e., computers, microfilm, scanners, and copiers) to process, store, and retrieve health information and medical records in order to provide pertinent information to medical providers and requestors.
  • Maintain alphabetically filed charts.
  • Assure compliance with the Privacy Act of 1974, the Freedom of Information Act and laws, regulations covering employee injuries under the State of Washington’s Labor and Industries jurisdiction, Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), Department of Energy (DOE) regulations, and other applicable laws and regulations.
  • Prepare and assemble medical charts for scheduled and walk-in exams; reassemble charts for refiling.
  • Retrieve, track, locate, and file charts.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Receive and process, within regulatory time restrictions, requests for release of medical information for the Energy Employees Occupational Illness Compensation Program Act (EEOICPA).
  • File letters, reports, records, and similar material in accordance with established procedures.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, clients, and the public.
  • Process various reports and keep chart contents/maintenance current.
  • Review medical records for completeness; enter data from medical charts returned from medical providers into the electronic system.
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
  • Answer telephone calls and handle requests, as needed.
  • Adhere to and foster acceptable health and safety practices.


Qualifications


  • Knowledge of medical terminology, required procedures for releasing records, and knowledge of applicable privacy laws (Privacy Act of 1974, HIPAA, etc.)
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Must be US Citizen and ability to obtain a favorable background check
  • COVID-19 vaccine and proof of full vaccination required
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience performing medical records/health information functions in a health care setting
  • Knowledge of EEOICPA and the Freedom of Information Act
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, clients, and customers
