Medical Laboratory Technician Jobs

A medical laboratory technician must be able to perform laboratory tests to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of disease.

Assists in the collection, processing and analysis of tests ordered. Assists the technologists with the completion of routine workload and ensures that all procedures are performed, controlled, recorded and reported. Maintains and supports computer information systems by entering data, analyzing, verifying, and printing reports. Professional knowledge of concepts, principles, practices, methodology including routine, complex and infrequently requested analysis. Knowledge of quality control principles and ability to correlate laboratory results. Knowledge and understanding of instrument technology sufficient to monitor mechanical and technical operations and to locate and correct malfunctions. Accepts guidance and directions from technologists.

Must be able to read, understand and follow MSDS sheets. An associate degree in Medical Laboratory Technology from an accredited college. Nationally registered by ASCP, NCA, or equivalent. Must have a current Louisiana license as a Medical Laboratory Technician or application in progress.
