Clover Park Technical College (CPTC) is seeking a highly-skilled and innovative program director to build a supportive environment for adult learners as they train for a career as a Medical Histology Technician. The ideal candidate will be passionate about working with the program’s diverse student body. Will help support the colleges’ work to cultivate an inclusive culture and campus climate by valuing diversity, sustaining an environment of belonging, and promoting equitable opportunities for all.
The successful candidate will work to eliminate equity gaps and help students succeed in their chosen career path and in what is an increasingly diverse work environment. Well qualified applicants should be enthusiastic about continuously working to keep curriculum relevant, researching and implementing the latest technologies to best prepare students for the dynamic careers that await them.
The successful candidate will work in collaboration with faculty in the School of Health and Human Services and carry out functions related to the position as described below. The candidate will work collaboratively with advising and other student services to best support student success. Additionally, the successful candidate will work collaboratively as an active participant in our shared governance processes.

This part-time position 5-10 hours per week.
This position's duties are performed in person on our Lakewood campus.
This position is represented by the Clover Park Federation of Teachers, Local 3913, AFT/ AFT Washington.
Duty: As needed- Provide classroom and lab instruction utilizing a variety of teaching techniques to prepare students for employment in the manufacturing industry.
Tasks include:
- Create, implement, and modify curriculum as required to meet learning outcomes.
- Create and maintain an atmosphere of professionalism and mutual respect with students.
- Utilize online learning management system and incorporate multiple modalities into curriculum planning.
- Maintain accurate student progress records updated in a timely manner and assess and provide feedback on student learning.
- Provide career guidance and job placement assistance.
- Other duties as assigned
- Maintain a safe environment through instruction, policy, and continuous evaluation of program equipment and laboratory space.
- Assess and provide feedback on student competencies as established by industry standards.
- Maintain and manage classroom environment, equipment, tools, and supplies.
Duty: Program and College support
Tasks include:
- Promote the program and college.
- Attend major college events when scheduled.
- Conduct program information sessions.
- Adhere to all Clover Park Technical College employee policies and procedures.
- Actively participate on college committees.
- Participate in shared governance.
Duty: Program administration
Tasks include:
- Use sound judgement with respect to instructional materials and equipment procurement and use.
- Manage program budget.
- Actively participate and maintain a productive and professional relationship with the program’s Advisory Committee.
- Act as program director and maintain program accreditation through NAACLS
- General program effectiveness: Responsible for organization, instruction, evaluation, continuous quality improvement, curriculum development/update, planning, directing other program faculty/staff, and program development.
- Provide input for the program, schedules and college publications.
- Develop, review and update program following established college procedures.
- The ability to contribute to the college’s commitment to diversity by fostering a climate of multicultural understanding and appreciation.
- Holds ASCP-BOC or ASCPi-BOC certification as a Histotechnologist
- Experience in educational methods and administration as well as current NAACLSS accreditation procedures and certification procedures.
- Master’s degree – to be completed within one year of accepting position
- Has three years of experience in medical or laboratory education that includes: teaching courses, conducting and managing learning experiences, evaluating student achievement, providing input into curriculum development, policy and procedure formulation, evaluating program effectiveness
