MEDICAL TRANSPORT DRIVER- PT UP TO 25 HOURS PER WEEK
Transport people to and from the dining centers for Nutrition Program; transport wheelchair bound clients. If at any time a driver becomes physically incapable of transporting wheelchair clients, they will submit a medical excuse to the transportation program director from a physician to temporarily excuse them from this duty. If the medical condition is deemed permanent, employee will be removed from the position per job description requirements. The employee is able to apply for other position(s) within the Agency that meets with their physical capabilities.
The Medical Transport Driver will transport people for trips scheduled on LCAP, Inc. vehicles as assigned; keep accurate account of miles driven, maintain records of all people transported, trips taken, etc., completed and submitted in in a timely manner, for each vehicle; keep the vehicle clean and maintained in good operating condition at all times. Other duties as required.
Will be trained in defensive driving, CPR and first aid, and passenger assistance training as soon as practicable after hire date.
Requirements:
Prefer high school graduate or equivalent. Must be at least 21 years of age and have a valid Ohio driver's license and two years driving experience with good driving record as follows:
- Maximum of one moving violation in three years and one at-fault accident, or
- Maximum of two moving violations in three years and no at-fault accidents, or
- Maximum of two at-fault accidents in three years with no moving violations.
- No major convictions in the last five years (DWI, DUI, OMVI, vehicular homicide, reckless driving, drugs or leaving the scene)
Have the ability to relate to elderly; ability to keep records; ability to properly assist handicapped people during transport. Must be able to pass at DOT physical prior to starting employment, and yearly thereafter. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds. Employees are required to carry at least the State minimum (for Ohio) auto insurance coverage and be able to provide proof upon request. Failure to provide proof of, or maintain a valid Driver’s License or Vehicle insurance, may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination. Regular and predictable attendance is required.
May require standing for more than one hour, walking, sitting, bending, stooping, squatting, kneeling, twisting, reaching above your head, good range of motion in neck, good manual dexterity and coordination, stair climbing, and climbing in and out of a vehicle. You may also be exposed to adverse climatic conditions both inside homes and in the outdoor environment.
