Department Description


We are an OB/GYN practice with a multidisciplinary team consisting of MD's, Midwives and Nurse Practitioners, caring for a diverse population with OB and GYN needs. We provide care to women of all ages in a culturally competent environment. The Medical assistant is an essential member of the clinical team allowing for delivery of effective and safe care to our patients and families.


Job Purpose: Actively and efficiently manage patient flow, pre-visit chart medical record preparation and information gathering to optimize the visit, participate in team meetings, assist providers with clinical procedures, ability to assist w/sterile technique, manage room cleaning, stocking and set up. As well as: room patients according to protocol, check routine vitals and point of care testing based on type of visit and OB/GN protocols, perform screening questionnaires and pain score, provide clear and timely observations to providers regarding patient issues. Actively communicate with patients regarding delays and wait times, some phlebotomy, label and reconcile lab specimens, participate in process improvement initiatives, and other duties as assigned/required.


Qualifications/Requirements: Must have Medical Assistant Certification from an accredited program. American Heart Association BLS certified and have a minimum of 1 yr. OB/GYN experience in an ambulatory setting. Bilingual preferred. Also, must be able to work in a complex environment and demonstrate competency is all electronic and medical systems/equipment in use.
