Job Description
Job Summary


The Medical Assistant is responsible for assisting various providers including Pain Specialist, Nurse Practitioners, and Physician Assistants. Their duties include recording and updating medical histories in patient files, scheduling patient appointments, and performing standard care procedures such as drawing blood, checking vitals, and performing IM injections.


Supervisory Responsibilities


This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.


Duties/Responsibilities


  • Stock rooms
  • Obtain/send medical records
  • Prepare injectables and medications
  • Scan and fax documents
  • Schedule appointments in EMR system
  • Clean and prepare medical rooms for provider
  • Scribe as needed for provider(s)
  • Perform blood draws
  • Administer IM injections
  • Order supplies
  • Answer phones as needed
  • Chart in appropriate EMR system


Required Skills/Abilities


  • Able to demonstrate compassion when dealing with others including patients and staff members
  • Familiar with EMR systems
  • Able to prioritize tasks and follow supervisor and provider's instructions
  • Proficient in communication via telephone.
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Proficient in Microsoft office
  • Professional appearance and mannerisms
  • Works collaboratively with others and is a team player
  • Proficient written and verbal communication skills


Education And Experience


  • Graduated from accredited Medical Assistant Program with phlebotomy
  • A High School Diploma or GED
  • At least one-year related work experience is preferred
  • Knowledge of medical terms or pain management is preferred


Physical Requirements


  • Must be able to lift to 50 pounds at times.
  • Requires the effective use of office equipment including, but not limited to, computers, phones, and printers.
  • Ability to communicate in an active office environment.
