The Ohio State University College of Pharmacy is a global leader in pharmaceutical education, research and clinical practice. This position is part of and partners with members of the College of Pharmacy marketing and communication office to develop relevant and compelling marketing materials and campaigns that support reputation management, enrollment efforts, the research translation process, advancement initiatives and business partnership development. This position provides storytelling and visual design expertise that conceptualizes and implements strategic and engaging multimedia communication for the college. This position also assists with front-end management of the college’s website (pharmacy.osu.edu) and leads website vendor relations.


The Media Designer reports to the Director of Communication and collaborates with other college and university partners to coordinate projects for print, social media, email, website and digital screens to connect with a broad audience; develops communications involving graphics, video, motion graphics and photographic solutions, including but not limited to: reports, print materials, magazines, videos, manuals, forms, web and social media content, infographics, and event and campaign collateral; supports implementation and updating of content management system/website technologies and front-end web designs; coordinates design processes, including production of artwork, submitting final designs for approval, securing of production and costs estimates, and keeping projects on schedule; manages website and print vendor relationships and contracts, ensuring the college utilizes all development hours; explores best design practices for graphics, web, photography and videography, with an understanding of prospective student content development.


This position functions in a conceptual and creative mode, independently coordinating many projects while serving as an integral collaborator on the marketing and communication team.


Required Qualifications: Two to four years of professional experience; bachelor's degree or equivalent experience; knowledge of basic design principles and storytelling across all media (print, digital, social, video, etc.); video editing experience; graphic design and layout skills, including experience with Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro and After Effects) and other standard graphics software, as well as Microsoft Office Suite; Adherence of AP style; strong understanding of grammar and persuasive writing techniques; knowledge of professional printing standards and working with professional printers; ; ability to meet deadlines for multiple projects and priorities; works both independently and collaboratively with colleagues and with a high level of creativity; desire to learn new systems and trends in design while adhering to enterprise brand standards.


Preferred Qualifications: Understanding of basic web language (HTML, CSS); adept at content management and project management programs and systems (Drupal experience preferred)


Additional Information


The pay range for this job profile is $49,800 - 66,400. The offer for this position will fall within this range based on internal equity, unit's available budget, and the candidate's qualifications.


The College of Pharmacy believes in a healthy work/life balance, therefore, the work arrangement for this position is hybrid (i.e., remote and in-office), subject to change based upon the needs of the organization and as determined by College Leadership.
