Mechanical Design Engineer Jobs

The Engineer is responsible for relaying project/process information to the Chief Engineer and providing any information relating to delays, problems, etc., which may affect the successful and timely completion of job assignments.

Responsibilities:

• Develops programs for computer numerical control (CNC) equipment required to machine or process various products. Observes and verifies machining efficiency and works with manufacturing to streamline the process.
• Confers with Engineering and Plant personnel to resolve design problems related to product and/or tooling design. Includes material characteristics, dimensional tolerances, tool-life issues, manufacturing procedures.
• Design and develop production equipment. Prepares related installation, operation, and maintenance specifications and instructions.
• When necessary, drive the requisition and purchasing process as it relates to tooling produced both internally and externally.
• Analyzes product or equipment specifications and performance requirements to conceive practical designs to include: establishing design parameters, design concept, performing engineering calculations, procure engineering information on materials and components, specify materials and components. May involve working with both manufacturing and/or outside vendors for production of products.
• Analyzes engineering design proposals, process requirements, and related technical data to determine feasibility of design project. Costs, time limitations, space, company plans, and other technical economic factors considered.
• Applies standard tool engineering data such as material requirements, space utilization, stress analysis, machinability/formability, etc. to develop or improve tooling configurations.
• Provides the design and detailing of production tooling, makes required revisions to existing drawings, and maintains accurate and up to date documentation for all tooling drawings, product drawings, and other process information.

Requirements:

• 2 years of engineering work experience
• Bachelor’s degree in a Mechanical or Design Engineering program
• Current CAD skills for drafting/detailing/design preferred.
