Job Description

Divergent has invented a complete manufacturing solution to address system level challenges. The Divergent Adaptive Production System (DAPS) is a complete software hardware solution designed to replace traditional vehicle manufacturing. To make the complex simple, it is a complete modular digital factory for complex structures. Given a set of digital requirements as input, the machine automatically computationally engineers, additively manufactures, and assembles any complex structure. The system is able to move seamlessly between manufacturing different vehicle models.

Purpose of Job:
  • Follow defined laboratory procedures and processes and help to create / improve them where needed.
  • Support the development of new alloy compositions and process parameters through laboratory testing, powder working, fractography, material characterization, and metallurgical assessment.
  • Support other related duties as required.
  • Conduct material studies through X-ray diffraction, optical microscopy, SEM imagery and other characterization techniques, including the ability to perform phase ID, quantitative analysis, and residual stress analysis.
  • Support the maturation of Divergent material solutions to TRL/MRL 6+.
  • Document technical data generated for the assigned projects and / or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures.
Essential Job Functions and Performance Standards:
1) Execute laboratory testing, including but not limited to, density measurement, dynamic modulus measurement, and ICP-OES.
2) Carry out metallurgical sample preparation, metallography, and fractography.
3) Conduct material studies with advanced material characterization techniques.
4) Ensure proper documentation and upkeep of technical data, laboratory procedures, and materials.

Requirements:

  • Practical knowledge of fracture mechanics and failure investigation
Education:
  • B.Eng.with 4-5 years of working experience
  • M.Eng. (M.Sc.) with 1-2 year of working experience in Materials Science and Engineering or Metallurgy

Experience:
  • Hands-on experience with SEM and XRD is a must
  • Knowledge of material characterization and corresponding standards
Skills:
  • Laboratory management (preferred)
  • Microscopy techniques and standards
  • Metallography specimen preparation
$95,000 - $110,000 a year
