Boeing is looking for a Materials and Process Engineer (Entry or Associate Level) to join our team located in New Orleans, LA.


The following defines the guidelines for Boeing Michoud Assembly Facility MAF M&P requirements for MAF M&P Production Support Engineers. These requirements include, but are not limited to:
  • Fasteners and Application
  • Thermal Protection (TP) and Thermal Protection Systems (TPS)
  • Develop an understanding of Contamination Control and the application in Manned Space Flight Vehicles
  • Capable of Participation in test and audit programs of manufacturing and engineering processes to applicable requirements
  • Aerospace Materials Engineering
  • The specific skills associated with these requirements should include:
  • This skill requires the ability to become familiar with manufacturing techniques and processes used to apply and verify system materials
  • The ability to develop a working knowledge of production scale-up, process development, verification and validation in the manufacturing environment
  • The ability to transition material and process lab qualification data and requirements to efficient and effective manufacturing processes
  • Metallurgy
  • Capable of evaluating emerging technologies for potential application to business needs
  • The ability to generate specifications, test plans and other documents to manage the deployment of materials, parts and processes
  • Capable of designs, development and qualification of computer and production systems to satisfy user requirements
  • Capable of Implementation of corrective and preventative actions responding to non-conformance conditions and RCCAs
  • Capable of maintaining compliance with contractual and regulatory obligations and promotes standardization across business activities
  • Acquire knowledge and understanding of corrosion in 2000 series aluminum alloys
  • Ability to apply governing documents and specification in the manufacturing environment
  • Acquire experience of processes and materials used in space flight vehicles such as bonding adhesives, films, tapes, coatings, primers, etc used in nominal, flight and cryogenic environments.
  • Capable of performing analysis to determine reasons for failures of materials, parts and processes
  • Capable of Integration of new technologies as appropriate
  • The ability to prepare planning documents used to guide and clarify processes used to compile manufacturing floor procedures
  • Acquire knowledge of aerospace fasteners, standards and applications.
  • This skill includes the capability to learn requirements leading up to and inclusive of spray on and pour applications in addition to substrate clean, water break free (WBF), prime, verification testing, TPS application and verification testing
  • Capable of performing development and qualification of new materials, parts and processes to meet requirements
  • These skill requirements will be embedded in the Boeing M&P Production Support Team and will work side by side with Boeing and NASA M&P Engineers
  • Develop an understanding and working knowledge of Government, Industry and Engineering Specifications
  • Contamination Control Engineering
  • Acquire knowledge of techniques associated with 2000 series aluminum alloys, Inconel, and titanium.

Position is a 2nd shift assignment. Overtime may be required.


Position Responsibilities:


  • Generate specifications, test plans and other documents to manage the deployment of materials, parts and processes
  • Perform analysis to determine reasons for failures of materials, parts and processes

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

  • 120.15 is required. “U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skill/Experience):
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, mathematics, or physics by Aug. 2023
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
  • 1 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Typical Education/Experience:
Entry (Level 1)
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) or an equivalent combination of
Technical education and experience. In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
Associate (Level 2)
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 2 or more years'
related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. Master). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard

Summary pay range for entry level: $64,600 – $87,400
Summary pay range for associate level: $77,350 - $104,650
