Summary:

Responsible for safe handling and conveyance of materials to include raw materials, purchased parts, WIP, and finished goods. This includes palletized and non-palletized material.

Responsibilities include unloading delivery trucks, receiving and verification of inbound materials, put away of materials, picking process of materials, staging of materials, preparation and safe loading of material for shipment, spotting for operation and movement of vehicles, and cycle count of materials. Responsible for proper documentation and record keeping related to the material handling function.

Essential Responsibilities: (Note other duties may be assigned.)

  • Maintains daily inspection and check list of powered industrial trucks and other equipment as required, reports any safety problems to Supervisor.
  • Verify pick sheets and notify supervisor of any shortages.
  • May be responsible for picking, collecting, and delivery of material. Monitor and replenish materials in a timely fashion. To include staging material for build or shipment or return to warehouse. Ensure accuracy of part numbers and quantities.
  • May be responsible for assembling wooden or cardboard containers or selecting preassembled containers to sustain materials in shipment.
  • Responsible for completing material transactions and for ensuring accuracy and timeliness on all material transactions.
  • Works with minimal supervision and checks all work.
  • Put-away material to stock locations.
  • Filling of any production parts shortages.
  • Maintains cleanliness and organization of work area and equipment, including labeling, marking (tape or paint) of storage, queue, and replenishment material areas.
  • Performs other duties as needed.
  • Responsible for ensuring accuracy in reading the sales orders, picklists, scanners, part labels, work orders, shipment paperwork, and other documents (electronic or hard copy).
  • Follows all safety rules and instructions.
  • Receives material into ERP / WMS system as arrive.
  • May need to perform a regular running inventory (Cycle Count), including searching for missing material, and notifies their immediate supervisor or their designee of any discrepancies.
  • May be responsible for kitting of material for shipment, storage, or production.
  • Receives materials and verifies correctness of shipments against bills of lading or other records, checks for shortages, damages etc.
  • Operates propane, gasoline, manual, or electric powered trucks and tuggers, as well as lifts or straddle cranes to load and unload trucks and transport materials in the warehouse, yard, or plant.
  • Responsible for unloading and loading material from / to trailers.
  • Moving palletized and unpalletized material.
  • May be responsible for protecting, loading, and securement of goods for shipment.

Qualifications:

  • Ability to move material and operate trucks safely , pallet jacks, and tuggers in production / warehouse environment.
  • Must have high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to use powered industrial trucks, powered industrial tuggers, portable ladders, hand carts, staple gun, basic hand and power tools, banding equipment and packaging tools.
  • Ability to operate scanner and label maker.
  • Ability to use and operate a scale.
  • Ability to learn to operate powered lifting equipment in a timely manner without any damage to property, product, or personnel.
  • Ability to operate overhead (bridge) cranes, jib cranes, straddle cranes, and rigging equipment.
  • Ability to lift moderate to heavy weights.
  • Ability to read and understand bills of material, work orders, pick lists, sales order, bills of ladings, packing slips, etc.
  • Ability to keep accurate records and reports.
  • Ability to work closely with other support departments.
  • Ability to work overtime as required.
