Job Description

MANUFACTURING SPECIALIST (COMPOSITES)

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Layout and implement centralized tool crib work center for automated drilling equipment storage and repair
  • Evaluate non-conformances to determine root cause and create actionable items and system improvements
  • Identify tool issues and initiating corrective action processes to prevent downtime
  • Establish preventative maintenance plans on drill equipment and coordinate with vendor for major repairs to be performed at their site
  • Develop and refine manufacturing assembly procedures based on lessons learned
  • Interface with both engineers and technicians to optimize manufacturing and automation
  • Develop and run drilling process improvement trials
  • Develop system of computerized records of all tools, programs, and equipment in inventory
  • Manage vehicle integration build flow and test operations
  • Support dispositions of non-conforming hardware on the production floor and drive root cause analysis & solution implementation
  • Enable day-to-day execution of the vehicle integration and test flow

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline or 3+ years of experience working in an aerospace manufacturing technician, planning, or direct support role

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Capable of solving complex manufacturing problems on schedule with little to no supervision
  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline with 1+ years of experience working in a manufacturing or test environment (internship and project team experience is applicable) or 4+ years of experience working in an aerospace manufacturing technician, planning, or direct support role
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Highly motivated and a self-starter
  • Experience with process development, facility and line layouts
  • Experience working with composite structures and integration of subsystems
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Documentation and configuration management experience
  • Experience with integration and testing of propulsion, thermal, electrical and/or structural systems
  • Hands on experience assembling or repairing mechanical systems such as automobile powertrains, aircraft engines, heavy machinery, etc.
  • Detail oriented, organized, and able to demonstrate a high sense of urgency
  • Experience writing test plans and procedures

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Able to lift 25 lbs. unassisted
  • Comfortable with repetitive movement, bending or twisting, and using hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools or controls, and exposure to sounds and noise levels that are distracting
  • Must be available for overtime and weekends as needed

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

Pay range:
Manufacturing Specialist/Level 1: $30.00 - $38.00/hour
Manufacturing Specialist/Level 2: $34.00 - $43.00/hour
Manufacturing Specialist/Level 3: $38.00 - $48.00/hour

Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.
