Job Description

Overview

As Manufacturing Mechanical Engineer you will contribute to the full product development cycle to include:

  • Collaborative work with suppliers
  • Product design
  • Continuous product life-cycle support

  • Transition to Production

Responsibilities

  • Support and train production assemblers on documented manufacturing procedures to ensure operator understanding and process quality results.
  • Applies statistical methods to estimate future manufacturing requirements and potential.
  • Support and resolve production/design issues that prevent a high-quality product result, such as component features, supplier capability, process, and tool issues.
  • Contribute to new product development teams to provide input to the product design to ensure efficient production and serviceability design attributes.
  • Review preliminary ECOs to ensure the change is acceptable and can be implemented and reliable.
  • Estimates production times, staffing requirements, and related costs to provide information for management decisions.
  • Create and maintain manufacturing process documents to implement ECO or process improvements.
  • Support the sustaining engineering process.
  • Transfer design attributes to vendors to ensure product specifications are obtained and arrange for purchase of equipment, materials, or parts, and evaluates products according to specifications with quality standards.
  • Analyzes and plans work force utilization, space requirements, and workflow, and designs layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency.

Qualifications

  • BS in STEM major or advanced STEM coursework and training
  • Computer proficiency in word processing, spreadsheets, databases / Crystal reports, Baan / ERP systems, and AutoCAD / SolidWorks
  • Experience in the design, analysis and documentation of assemblies, sheet metal parts, machined parts, molded plastics, electro-mechanical enclosures, cables, wire harnesses, etc.
  • Must be able to work on location
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a progressive design / manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of an interdisciplinary team.
