Job Description

The Manufacturing Engineering Manager – Foundry will be responsible for developing equipment, tooling and processes for our manufacturing sites, as part of the Corporate AME Team.  This role is responsible for directing department activities to design production foundry tooling, implement new equipment, develop new processes, modify existing equipment & processes and improve production techniques, for ConMet’s aluminum foundries.
This role requires working in an office environment (not hybrid or remote) at ConMet's corporate headquarters in Vancouver, Washington.   Non-local candidates must be open to relocation (relocation assistance available.  
Key Duties 
  • Provide leadership and insight for foundry equipment and processes include melting, core making, gravity & tilt pour casting, low pressure die casting, high pressure die casting, heat treatment, and secondary finishing operations. 
  • Provide oversight and management of tooling design and build for new product, and improvements for existing product. This will be done in direct collaboration with the Product Engineering team and the Operations teams.
  • Provide oversight and management of new equipment installations and modification / upgrades of existing equipment installations. This will include the selection, financial justification, purchase and commissioning of that equipment, working directly with the Operations teams from RFQ through process development.
  • Participate in, and direct, as required, DFM/DFA activities for new product design and launch.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering and minimum of 10 years professional engineering experience required.  In lieu of bachelor’s degree, candidates with a minimum of 20 years engineering experience will be considered.
  • Engineering management experience required.
  • Aluminum Foundry experience required; metal quality, LPDC, Gravity/ Tilt pour, and periphery processes.
  • History of progressively responsible roles in engineering positions, including management of other engineers.
  • Foundry Equipment and Process engineering project management experience

  • The full salary range for the position, across all geographies is, $97,914 - $167,853 per year.  The upper portion of the salary range is typically reserved for existing employees who demonstrate strong performance over time. Starting salary will vary by location, qualifications, and prior experience.
  • Targeted annual bonus is based on company performance to objectives during the fiscal plan year which runs from October 1 – September 30.

  • New hires generally start between $97,914 - $139,877.
