Job Description

The Opportunity:

When a user tries new software, they expect it to be intuitive and run smoothly. Functionality, reliability, and user experience are key to successful software development – and that means rigorous testing. That’s why we need you, an experienced test engineer who knows how to thoroughly test software and work with developers to make sure our team releases the best software possible.

As a test engineer on our team, you’ll use your experience to work with testers, developers, and engineers to evaluate software developed for the Veterans Administration. You’ll build a test plan with test cases based on user stories. Using manual processes, you’ll generate data and execute the test cases to see how the software performs, then document the results and communicate defects to the development team so they can start improving the tool. You’ll participate and contribute to scrum daily standups, backlog grooming, sprint planning, sprint review, and sprint retrospectives. Perform as an integral part of the team and take ownership of tasks through the full test process including test planning, test case creation, execution, and test reporting.

You Have:

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust or Suitability/Fitness determination based on client requirements
  • Knowledge of the software development life cycle
  • 3+ years of experience with Agile methodologies and sprint-based testing cycles
  • Bachelor's degree
  • 3+ years of experience with developing and executing manual test cases

Nice If You Have:

  • Experience with Technology domain BRMS – ODM, Middleware – WebLogic, Languages – Java, XML JSON HTML, Database - SQL and NOSQL, Cloud – AWS, Secure File Transfer – SFTP, Web Services – REST, SOAP, Document Management and Manipulation – DOC/DOCX, PDF, Software Development Methodologies – Agile (Scrum, SAFe), Waterfall, System Integration and, Tools – GitHub, Jira, Office 365, Visio
  • Ability to work effectively, independently, and on diverse teams
  • Ability to adapt in a fast–paced and changing environment
  • Bachelor’s degree in CS or Computer Engineering
  • Experience in the Federal Government, Veterans Affairs, or Healthcare IT sector HIPAA, Medical Claims Processing and PII/PHI Data
  • Possession of excellent problem solving and conflict resolution skills
  • Possession of excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $49,900.00 to $102,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen’s total compensation package for employees.
