Job Description
Smartsheet is a tech company with a human story to tell. We’re here to empower teams to manage projects, automate workflows, and rapidly build new secure solutions using simple no-code tools. We’re revolutionaries – so for us changing the way the world works is all in a day’s work.
Smartsheet is seeking an experienced Manager, L&C Content, to manage a team of technical and content writers that produce both customer-facing and internal product documentation. In this role, you’ll work cross-functionally with the Product, Engineering, Marketing, and Field Operations teams to manage the content delivery for new and existing product features. You’ll use your passion for accurate, detailed, and easily-consumable content to deliver well-written technical content on schedule while adhering to style and formatting guidelines. The ideal candidate will have a deep knowledge of SEO, Drupal8 experience, a content management background, and flexibility in a fast-moving environment. You’ll be responsible for identifying the update strategy and cadence, reporting results, and making data-driven decisions. Your team will partner with the product team to deliver product documentation that forms the base for all other content builds in the company. Your team will also be tasked with keeping existing content up to date: Smartsheet has a rapid delivery cadence, and our content must keep pace.
You will report to the Sr. Manager, L&C. This is a remote eligible position, and you may work remotely from anywhere in the US where Smartsheet is registered.
You Will
  • Immerse yourself in Smartsheet’s product line and learn the technologies and features as needed to document them accurately.
  • Review and compile internal change requests and customer feedback and use this information to recommend and implement content changes.
  • Review the work of the writers and mentor them as they develop technical writing expertise.
  • Maintain the Smartsheet Help & Learning style guide.
  • You will have expert knowledge in SEO and google analytics. You will provide regular updates on what is and what is not working and suggest how to improve or where we should focus our efforts.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to ensure the content meets the needs of our stakeholders and customers.
  • SEO Copy Writing/Editing – all materials must be optimized for search engines. We look to you to review all documents and ensure everything is optimized with keywords. Projects will include: optimizing the website with keywords, optimizing the virtual learning center (landing pages, learning tracks, etc.), taking existing key resources/tools created by Subject Matter Experts, and optimizing for maximum visibility and management.
  • Define and create templates and processes to help standardize and operationalize technical content production.
  • Manage content production tasks (ensure the work pipeline is maintained and that requests are addressed promptly)
  • Track and report on your team’s project assignments and schedule, working towards hard deadlines.
You Have
  • 2+ years of experience working with internal stakeholders to develop content program plans, creative briefs, and professional communications.
  • Strong team player with the ability to successfully collaborate with geographically distributed teams.
  • Proven success managing and delivering content programs with a data-driven approach and overall experience applying those capabilities within different web environments, such as content/knowledge management systems and learning management systems.
  • 2+ years of proven ability to develop and manage content programs throughout the project lifecycle, including strategy, planning, execution, reporting, and maintenance. Example content programs include content audits and migrations, content strategies, optimized web content development, and integrated content marketing programs that may include email marketing, social marketing, influencer marketing, PR, etc., across multiple channels and platforms.
  • The professionalism, confidence, and attention to detail necessary to earn the respect of client executives, peers, and project team members.
  • Experience setting and communicating priorities to project teams while simultaneously managing multiple, often fast-paced projects.
  • 3+ years of experience managing and executing content strategy, content structures, and content development that demonstrate audience engagement
Perks & Benefits
  • Personal paid Volunteer Day to support our community
  • Company Funded Perks, including a counseling membership, primary care membership, local retail discounts, and your own personal Smartsheet account
  • Equity - Restricted Stock Units (RSUs) with all offers
  • Up to 24 weeks of Parental Leave
  • HSA, 100% employer-paid premiums, or Buy-up medical/vision and dental coverage options for full-time employees
  • Monthly stipend to support your work and productivity
  • Flexible Time Away Program, plus Incidental Sick Leave
  • Teleworking options from any registered location in the U.S. (role specific)
