Job Description

The Fairfield Inn, located in Hartsville, SC, is looking for a fulltime Maintenance/Houseperson. The person hired for this position will primarily work the day shift and must have some weekend availability.

PRIMARY PURPOSE: To maintain the hotel’s customer and hotel areas in accordance with company and brand standards by performing preventative maintenance, repairs, and to contribute to ensuring a clean hotel by providing public space cleaning of customer floors, hallways, and service areas.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Dusts all spots thoroughly
  • Supports housekeepers by assisting with room servicing as needed
  • Responds to both customer and hotel staff reports of non-functioning equipment immediately
  • Cleans public areas including; floors, elevators, lobbies, hallways, vending areas, service areas, stairwells, and work out room
  • Repairs carpet, marble, tile, vinyl, paint, etc
  • Maintains the overall cleanliness of the hotel’s public space by cleaning all assigned areas thoroughly on a daily basis
  • Maintains problem log book to record the equipment in need of repair and prioritizes accordingly
  • Performs preventative maintenance throughout the hotel as well, including both the front and the back of the house, interior and exterior
  • Completes work projects as assigned by supervisor and management.
  • Repairs televisions, phones, radio clocks, etc
  • Maintains room in optimal operating condition by performing repairs as needed
  • Maintains the overall appearance of the room; replaces broken mirrors, hangs fixtures, does touch-up, painting
  • Maintains exterior of building and grounds as necessary
  • Vacuums, shampoos, and removes gum spots from carpets as required
  • Cleans and polishes floors, windows, mirrors, vending machines, and ice machines
  • Replaces or repairs damaged bathroom fixtures and executes general plumbing as needed
  • Removes all litter from public space

REQUIREMENTS

  • Previous building operations maintenance/engineering experience preferred.
  • Must have the ability to complete required safety classes that pertain to specific job duties.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and make decisions.
  • Must be available to work any hours/days of the week necessary to meet business requirements
  • Ability to work any hours/ days during the week and weekends
  • Prior housekeeping experience or other relevant environmental services experience.

Employees in this position may work indoors or outdoors. To perform the job successfully the candidate must be able to see differences between colors, shades, and brightness, hear sounds and recognize the difference between them, focus on one source of sound and ignore others, use fingers to grasp, move, or assemble very small objects, make quick, precise adjustments to machine controls, determine the distance between objects, adjust body movements or equipment controls to keep pace with speed changes of moving objects. To perform the job successfully the candidate must be able to lift, push, pull and carry a minimum weight of approximately 50 lbs, stand for long periods of time, kneel, bend and crawl, squat and crouch, and tolerate exposure to dust and cleaning chemicals.
