Maintenance Worker Jobs

The primary function of this role is to maintain the grounds and to support the Director of facilities and maintenance team with general repairs and maintenance of the building and grounds.

Duties and responsibilities

• Maintain the physical appearance and safety of the grounds. Including but not limited to:

Qualifications

• Keeping the grounds clear of branches and other hazards
• Move/ assist moving furniture as needed
• Working knowledge of basic hand and power tools
• Assist with preventative and scheduled maintenance of all landscaping machinery
• Perform scheduled checks and filling of all checklists that apply
• Shovel/ snow blow and salt all walkways, entrances and parking lot
• Weeding
• Cutting the grass
• Notify Director of Facilities Immediately, of any broken equipment, fencing, trees, damage and or hazardous conditions on the grounds
• Help maintain, clean and organize all maintenance storage areas and tools
• Walk grounds daily, remove any safety hazards, put away any equipment left out (tools, machinery, sporting good, toys, etc.)
• Perform light duty repairs
• Leaf clean up
• Ability to operate any and all landscaping machinery and tools
• Change HVAC Filters as scheduled
• Basic construction and carpentry skills

Working conditions

• Work is rain, snow, or shine
• Ability to travel wherever needed. Huntington will be the main location but the possibility to go to West Hempstead or any other NY location is high
• Monday -Friday
• Weekend days as necessary

Physical requirements

• Ability to lift heavy objects, ability to work in all conditions
