Maintenance Worker Ii - Water Distribution

Description The City of Norfolk's Department of Utilities is seeking qualified candidates for a Maintenance Worker II in our Water Distribution Division. The Maintenance Worker II is needed to perform general labor duties to include the maintenance of equipment, fueling equipment, unloading materials, and digging. Essential Functions Essential functions include, but are not limited to:

• Maintains lawns
• Makes minor repairs to underground water service lines
• Loads, unloads, lifts and carries tools, equipment, and chemicals
• Requires knowledge of construction equipment, materials, and work tasks Education/Experience Work requires the ability to read and understand written instructions, to understand simple processes and the routine operation of machines. Level of knowledge equivalent to high school or equivalency. One year experience as a Maintenance Worker. Additional Information & Requirements Valid Driver's License Work Location: 1316 Ballentine Blvd., Norfolk, Virginia 23504 Work Hours: Monday - Friday from 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m., also standby duty rotation every several weeks. This position is eligible for a one-time $5,000 signing bonus. This is an'Essential' position which means you may be required to work nights, weekends, rotating shifts, holidays, etc. in response to severe weather events and emergencies.
