Job Description
POSITION: Maintenance Worker II\ DEPARTMENT: Building and Grounds\ Grade: 23\ Starting Salary: \$33,268.04\ Position Number: 426027\ Posted: August 23, 2023\ Closing Date: August 30, 2023\ \ GENERAL DEFINITION OF WORK\ Performs skilled trades work in the construction, maintenance and repair of public buildings, grounds, equipment, related facilities, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the limited supervision of the Public Works Superintendent.\ \ Qualification Requirements\ To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. The requirements below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable an individual with disabilities to perform the essential functions.\ \ ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Participates in a wide variety of building maintenance and repair tasks involving one or more of the trades, such as carpentry, plumbing, masonry, painting, welding and electrical work.
  • Assists in welding signs, gates, handrails, etc.; assists in repairing or building of trailer and a variety of other equipment.
  • Maintains playground equipment, tennis courts, and enclosures; places mulch around playground equipment; installs new playground equipment.
  • Operates dump trucks, tractors, back hoe, front end loader, forklift, chainsaw, weed eater, stump grinder, etc. in the construction, maintenance and repair of facilities.
  • Assists with carpentry tasks in the repair, remodel, and/or replacement of building structures; hangs, replaces, or repairs walls, cabinets, doors, windows, floors, ceilings, etc.; fabricates or repairs furniture and cabinets.
  • Sets up rooms and facilities; moves furniture.
  • Performs electrical tasks; repairs and maintains interior and exterior lighting; installs and replaces electrical fixtures; installs and repairs switches and outlets.
  • Sweeps, strips, waxes, buffs, mops and vacuums floor surfaces; spots and cleans carpet; repairs carpet.
  • Participates in the County\'s safety program and adheres to safety procedures and policies of the department.
  • Performs ground maintenance tasks; mows grass, edges sidewalks and curbs, weed eats, trims trees and shrubs, sprays pesticides; removes leaves and debris; cleans parking lots; removes snow and ice; removes downed trees.
  • Performs painting on interior and exterior of County buildings and facilities.
  • Assists with plumbing tasks; fixes and repairs water lines and leaks; replaces pneumatic valves and sprinkler heads; cleans out waste lines and drain lines; repairs, maintains and changes plumbing fixtures; cleans restrooms and removes trash from County buildings.
  • Assists in performing concrete, brick and block work in pouring sidewalks, floors, footings and slabs, and curbs.

Education And Experience
  • ORequivalent combination of education and experience.
  • High school diploma or GED and moderate experience in maintenance, repair and/or construction work,
